That is the best option for a person that is unfamiliar with any military equipment. There is a definite rolling of the dice when purchasing at auction. I have both won and loss at auction.

Bidders need to look closely to the pictures and videos for the condition of the units. One thing I look for is at the point of starting the hertz gauge will go to 60 cycles if the gen is making power. Not a sure thing but one thing to look for.
Now I am a new owner of a 802a this diagram is great. I will have to put on my electrical hat and study in a quite room. Hopefully I will never need it (meaning my gen will keep on generating) but this will surly be an asset to my troubleshooting. Thanks for all that put this together.
Quiz for today. Just how many 802 or 803 gensets do you think is or was in service over the past years. I have no idea just how many there are. Local yard near me also had quite a few 802/803 units.
I just won an 803 at Letterkenny but it only came with a terminal wrench trailer jack crank and 3 ground rod sections.

Did a load out today at Chambersburg. The GovPlanet load operator was a good guy. He even brought it out with the loader and set it right down on my hook. I brought the correct pintle hitch with chains on a 5kw gen set with trailer. Did not have lights since my truck tail lights were clear to...
Would the ethanol in reg unleaded pull the water out and participate to the bottom? Or do you know something I'm not thinking about.

Not to get political but I would think the 144000 illegal immigrants we feed, house, Medicare would be a bigger concern for our Feds.
Keep with safe practices and do the testing. During ww2 the government tested burning wood smoke to run vehicles. With success.

Has anyone researched if the modern engines know if the fuel is ULSulphur or old sulphur fuel will pass the sniffers? Looking for info not guesses since all modern vehicles have ultra low fuel stickers everywhere.

I also have about 15 gallons of ref oil and haven't tested it. Have you noticed any differences with either POE or mineral oil?

Visited the rally for the first time on Thursday. Typically visited on Friday but traveling through from Ocean City MD it worked best to stop by on Thursday.
Many vendors and bought several things (Jerry can, receiver hitch, spray lube, magazines (to read not to shoot)).
Stopped by Scroungers...
Last week I went to recover a MEP803 at Letterkenny. Gov planet has an off base pickup/ storage lot. Pickup between 0800 and 1400 (not 4 pm like me). Just show and they have a wheel loader with forks to do load outs. Nice people there.

Finally made it back to read the whole thread. I really think it was a good trip but it sure must have been scary sometimes. Have you been using the truck lately? Most of all I'm impressed that a 5-ton made it a whole way across the country. A trip of a lifetime.

I have not seen any sold surplus auctions either. I have seen fuel separators but I know they are different things. l do know a guy that has a sub centrifuge that he uses for his biofuel process. I should have a pic so where.
Well glad you made it back home. Im sure it will be a while before you make that trip again but if you really want to sounds like Alaskaboy will have an empty seat. :) Overall your trip was not a total loss. If you remember when we hooked up my air grinder to cut the holes in the bumper for the...
