    Fuel filters priming

My first time messing with an LMTV was in a storage lot trying to see if it would start. There just happened to be a mobile diesel mechanic there working on someone else's semi that had come over to check out the cool army truck. He explained how the system worked like a common rail through the...

    Fuel filters priming

My understanding is what Will said. There is no cracking of lines to bleed air like many diesels. You pump the primer pump to fill both filters and the fuel goes into the gallery in the head and back through the pressure regulator and returns to the tank pushing any air in front of it. I think...

Has anyone seen this AWESOME spare tire rack system?

I looked too. It looks to be a limited run (1000?) for a mil contract or something. If that's the case, there should be some floating around out there somewhere. If not, its information for someone to fab up for themselves.

Axle broken? M998 front wheels not turning in shallow snow

Did you get to see the broken shaft? Im trying to think why if you tried using the Brake/Throttle Modulation technique that the drivers side tire wouldn't turn while in High Lock? Unless the drive flange broke at the splines, or you weren't in High Lock when attempting BTM And like the other...

    Authentic Side Mirrors

MLC= Main Land China! Just kidding. Ive seen two types of large GI mirrors. The rounded style, and the square style. They always have the NSN molded on the backside. The rounded style(older?) are the most common. And ive only seen them molded in green plastic with matching green plastic upper...

'86 M998 Humvee issue with headlights and turnsignals

I put LEDs in the dash. Big improvement. Went to put one in the turn switch indicator...it doesn't work there. Tried three different styles of bulb...no go. Im starting to think that because its wired in such a way that its on when the flasher switches to off and consequently doesn't have the...

    Bench seat installation

You gotta be a special kind of stupid to roll a HMMWV. Save the safety spiels as theres nothing safe about the interior of these rigs Just get an aftermarket rear seat for a Jeep CJ or YJ. Bestop, or rugged ridge are pretty common worldwide. They should fit. Not much headroom, though. But its...

    Troop seats or not

I prefer the seats mainly because without them the truck looks to symmetrical. Front or rear look similar in four man configuration.

Phoenix Area Mechanic Wanted! Barstow, CA Inspection-Repair on Base?

Barstow base is a no go from what I was told. They do full refurb and service for military only. I have been working on a few HMMWVs and LMTVs in the Glendale area and might be able to help. What were you needing done?

    Transmission cooling lines quick question

Pro tip....If the repair TM doesn't show what you are looking for, Try going to the -24P parts manual. They will usually show an exploded view of what you need without anything that would normally hide it from view.

Any thoughts on a useful substitution for those long spring antennas

There are these "high survivability" style antennas. All steel whip that is easily removed with a collet style retainer. Half the size and still are correct. And they are supposedly the only ones easily adapted to use with a CB radio. AS-3916 I believe
