Some old CUCV pictures I found in my office

You wouldn’t happen to have a copy of that book would you? Pictures are great, thank you for sharing. My ‘86 1009 is inside the big barn waiting for me to restore it.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Give me a couple days to get them opened up and I’ll post some. Anything in particular you want to see?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Nice! I’ve got a bunch of antique tools. About half of which are family heirlooms. There’s tools that date back to the 1850’s. Dad said there were all the tools needed to build a house... the old fashioned way.

1000 reasons to keep military vehicles on the road - please add your comment

My trucks all have purposes. One supports the local Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots (T4T) program. The closest Marines are a Reserve unit out of Denver CO, which is 3+ hours away and they’re never home (always deployed). I am a Marine Veteran and helping the T4T program and I considered it a...

    Need some ether start canisters.

My 1972 M35A2, formally North Dakota National Guard, had one installed when I bought the truck. Over the course of several years, I’ve located a few cylinders. I have a couple I keep for those days when nothing else works. Well below freezing and I hate standing in the cold, scenarios. I’ve no...

    B-52 Turns 60

As a foul mouthed Marine, I am constantly catching myself dropping every known filthy word in the English language. It’s helped me out a couple times and got a bit of trouble in others. I worked on a crashed Canadian Helicopter in front of a very large airshow audience. There were moments of...

I figure out two ways to put the seats back in the truck by myself. I’ll usually us the tractor and rope to sling them up and then climb up and guide them into place. Once the seats are started, the tractor will take up the load. Option two is used when inside one of the barns. Using block and...

Looks real nice! I’m saving some of your pics so I have examples for my truck. I remember the Skillcraft name. It was on just about everything in the system back then. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve got a box or two of the pens somewhere in the pile of stuff.

    Working on the M38 next.

What other size tires does Summit carry? I’m looking to replace the fire truck’s tires with NDT/NDCC or other period correct tires. The size I’ll need will be 7.50x20. Looking good on those rims!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My wife and I are both helicopter Crew Chiefs. Changing oil, replacing filters, greasing zerk fittings, changing rotor blades, engines, gearboxes... finding a wife who’s as qualified as she is, is nye on impossible. Count your blessings for finding someone who’s got the green disease and is...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I looked up the crane version of the CCKW and it normally had a 4 ton Quick Way crane version. I’d guess there may be a section on these trucks in David Doyle’s CCKW book. I’ve only seen one of these trucks. Just off I-84 near Farewell Bend. Pics below. If someone gets to look at it, please let...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

We we used to say we had gremlins on our UH-1N’s. For that matter, they were in CHARGE-53’s, HH-53’s, HH-3’s, HH-60’s, etc. our solution was multi fold: first, Holy water. Use it copiously. Next, go to KFC and get the big bucket of chicken; flavor is irrelevant. Upon consuming said chicken...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I don’t know if there’s a video on YouTube but when I went to tech school in the Marine Corps, one of the first things I learned was how to properly use safety wire. You couldn’t advance through that section of training until you did it correctly using the proper size wire: .020, .032 and I...
