CUCV head gasket / head/ or change engine survey

Great...now I see this. Mine were shot so I blasted and painted the tracks but couldn't find the replacement felt. Only a big roll for $80. Scoured our considerable salvage yards to no avail. (I did find a set of torsion springs, though.) I could only find one side NOS for $86, So I sprung for...

    M1009 (Also) Turn signal issues

Do you still have the blackout light control switches installed and plugged in? Mine were removed and the main power wire(OR-OR/BLK) was jumped in the remaining connector. I took me weeks of futzing with bulbs, sockets, cleaning grounds, etc to come to the realization that the PO failed to...

Thanks for that info. Just what I needed to know. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk

DOT 5 vs 5.1? What are you using?

Is there any way to tell if your newly purchased CUCV still has the original DOT5, or was switched over to DOT3 by someone previously? I don't want to add DOT5 and have a mess if DOT 3 was in there.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Another two steps forward, one step back. Installed upper rifle mounts. Thanks HAWKMAN! Painted gray dash pad satin brown. Installed new side marker lenses. Installed newish sun visor. Fixed gauge illumination. Installed NOS CDR valve Installed vacuum reservoir to assist failing vacuum pump...

What is this thing on my M1009?

Yeah, that's a bubba added hood lock of some sort. Maybe kept locals in Kosovo from stealing the Yankee's batteries. Kinda like the spare tire and steering wheel chains that many have

    M1009 to use for parts?

No, no A/C. Only the M1010 ambulance version had A/C for the rear box. That does mean there is a source for compressor bracketry, though.

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Looking forward to the pics. Yeah, the crimped ring needing to be ground off kept me from taking mine apart without a having a replacement.

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Good info. Thanks! Small temporary victory...while reassembling the head to the stem, I squirted a small amount of denatured alcohol into the vac inlet pipe and shook it around a bit. Re-installed it and fired it up. Now it would fluctuate/bounce from 12 to 20+. Vacuum reading OUT of the vacuum...

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Thanks for the info Just called on both. Despite what their website shows, summit is out of stock. Estimated restock shows 10/23 but they cant confirm that even. Advanced doesn't actually have any either. Just the borg warner unit in their ABQ warehouse @$260

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Do you have any pics of the inside? I like to "autopsy" my old components to see how they function. I don't want to cut mine open yet, but I'm curious as to what the valves inside look like. I'm wondering if they are just stuck preventing it from holding steady vacuum. Maybe something just a...

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Yeah, i checked for the adjuster screw inside the modulator port before I installed it. None on this one. Its good to know that the pump should be providing steady vacuum. That makes sense as the choppy vacuum cant be very useful. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

I have the pump removed at the moment. Checking it for any obvious damage/malfunctions. If you could hook up a vacuum gauge and see if you get the same result mine has, that would help to determine if mine is normal, or not.

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

I didn't put my finger to it. I attached my vacuum gauge. The needle oscillated rapidly and completely with each stroke of the diaphragm. No steady reading whatsoever. Each stroke got a full needle sweep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geBJdWYXaCI

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Been searching the archives all weekend. My M1009 has the standard issue late/hard shifts. Per forum advice, Replaced all (dry rotted, but not obviously leaking)vacuum tubing. Replaced the vacuum modulator on the trans with a NOS ACdelco part. Vacuum Tubes on proper ports. Lower to pump, upper...

    My favorite tires DISCONTINUED!

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Thing is I really like the look of these tires in particular. I just got off the phone with tirerack sales guy...he found a stash of them in Louisiana...even though their website says out of stock. So I dropped the hammer on a set for $630 shipped! Should have...

Found the M1009 I want! NO TITLE. Shipping to AR. Not sure how to begin.

Well...as far as a bill of sale from the guy, I'd google search "vehicle bill of sale forms" or similar. You can find one you like, or is recommended for either state, and copy or print a blank form and send it to the seller to fill out and send with the truck/driver. That is where I'd start...
