Installed new fuel return line.
Used the brass tees.
Taking muffler off made that job so much easier.
Secured lines after photo.
They were really in bad shape.
The ones to the injectors were busted in half.
The plastic tees were strong and solid with no sign of degradation. Saving those.
I did...
Might I suggest that you add a bit of seafoam to the oil before changing it.
It does a great job of cleaning inside the engine and hopefully freeing up piston rings.
Yes it’s safe for that, says it right on the can.
Just can’t run it forever.
I don’t remember the max amount of time it can stay...
Saw that one.
If no one chimes in that they have one, I will just do that.
They only made thousands of these.
You would think that the spare parts would be bit more plentiful.
Went out today to wire up the gauge lights.
Somehow, the housing on the water temp cracked open.
I think it was caused by a rain cover (unit is inside, but was keeping it covered) that caught on something when I was removing it and didn’t think twice about it.
Control compartment lid has been...
If you can get it inside and take those damaged covers off, a 2lb hammer, block of hardwood or chunk of steel and miscellaneous for the small and tight places, you would be surprised how well it will turn out.
Just take your time and don’t just start banging away.
It will work
I agree
That is fixable and while it “looks” bad, a few hours with tools will get that in decent shape.
Won’t look new, but much better than it is now.
Good question
I tried to find some for sale and a quick search came up dry, except going through a Hawker dealer.
I’m sure there available somewhere outside the dealer network.
So still waiting on a few parts to arrive.
Fuel return hose arrived today. Bought 12 feet. (will be using some on my CUCV injectors).
Fuse Mod/MOV. I ordered the wrong one, not really sure how, and now the correct parts are headed this way as I type. (Thanks Kurt!!)
Ordered all new stainless...
Second on the Hawkers.
You've spent this much time and money on the truck, don't skimp now.
I know buying Odyssey batteries isn’t skimping, but Hawkers are the Military’s choice and I have had Zero issues with them.
On year 6 on this current set. Bought brand new.
Worth every penny.
First impressions say no.
No data plates or even the holes for them.
No tie-down/lifting shackles.
No side reflectors
5 lug wheels (Studs look too small for a M101)
It’s OD green and has a pintle hitch.
That’s the only relationship to a real military trailer that I can see.
At least they used Wix filters.
The oil filter is also a Wix and looks new. Besides the dirt/dust
The Air Filter is also new and is a Wix brand.
The paperwork has zero marks.
The factory put those with the unit, closed the lid and that's where they've been for the last 22 years.
Except the...
I found some surprising documentation from when this unit was brand new.
A laminated Lube Order Manual
Info about warranty and how that process works.
Depreservation Guide that shows the exact date when this unit was ready to ship. Still sealed from the factory.
Shocked that this paperwork...
Took off panel top cover and sure enough, remnants of the start of a nest.
Nothing chewed and no piles of droppings.
Lots of dirt
Surprisingly, no corrosion under the nest
Cleaned up area with rags, removed old nest and used an air hose to blow all the dust/dirt out.
Sprayed everything with...
Well it definitely showed my lack of knowledge on the generator.
This is the first generator I've had with an E-Stop button.
That issue will not happen again.
I have the bolts soaking with penetrating oil now.
Will be removing that cover to check later today or tomorrow morning.
Already miserable outside.
I thought you just couldn’t run it if Mods not installed, but I don’t need to crank it anymore for now anyway.
Sprayed the Detoxit behind the...
