Finding the "good" wheel cylinder kits...

I'm not familiar with brake system design for any kind of brakes, but I know that hydraulic systems can be under some high pressures sometimes, like thousands of psi. I'm hoping there's someone here who's more knowledgeable about that who can chime in. I'd think off-the-shelf springs of the...

Finding the "good" wheel cylinder kits...

If a crash happens because of it Dorman better have deep enough pockets for lawyers. Brake cylinder boots aren't load-bearing, right? One could make a mold and cast reproduction ones out of an appropriate rubber. As for the brake cylinders, they can be reverse-engineered and milled out in a...

    All metal bows???

Now I want to see a picture of a HEMTT with a cargo cover on it - not something I've seen very often!

New to me M35A3, suggestions needed

Fortunately AT545 transmissions seem plentiful and the TMs cover that replacement in detail. I think it would be neat to pull the old transmission apart to see the wrecked clutch disks.

Finding the "good" wheel cylinder kits...

I don't think disc brakes stand up to sitting idle for extended periods, especially outside. My 2012 Chrysler 200 sat out about 6 months of driving and the brakes froze up. The front ones freed up but I had to at least replace the rear calipers, and it took a bit of braking to clean the rust...

    M35a3 m109a4 fuel system upgrade

I took another look at your pictures and I see what you're saying now, especially since the primary fuel filter is mounted upside-down on the side of the motor. That housing you have in your pictures is mounted rightside-up. I never noticed a second filter housing on my motor, so I'm going to...

    M35a3 m109a4 fuel system upgrade

I was hoping that wasn't what you were talking about - that's really strange! That's the primary fuel filter for the motor with the built-in water separator. Why anyone would bypass that is beyond me, it's kinda important! I'm glad you got it fixed (y) This is why the Army shouldn't have...

    M35a3 m109a4 fuel system upgrade

I'm a little confused - where did you put the pre-filter? I can't tell from the pics unless it's actually an in-line screen at the check valve that you're talking about? It does take awhile to prime the truck with the fuel pump to get the motor started. When I changed the fuel filter last it...

Anyone near Baxter, TN want to look at a deuce?

Shipping costs are crazy due to fuel costs. It cost about $850 to ship my 7000 lb van about 350 miles.

Anyone near Baxter, TN want to look at a deuce?

I know the feeling! I have little kids at home too, which makes traditional truck recoveries non-starters! I suggest looking into @unitedstatesoffreight . They moved a 1-ton van for me recently, but they've moved bigger stuff for other members here too. I negotiated a price with them and...

    Got my new deuce!

What sucks about using electric goop or whatever it is is that you have to fight with cleaning it out if you need to pull the terminal block apart. But YMMV - I'm just not a fan of anything like that  @VBsurfer if you can't find a cover or figure something else out, PM me and we can talk...

    Got my new deuce!

Take a look in the TM I have attached. I think your alternator is on PDF page 7 of 18. There's a parts list with NSNs at the end of the manual too. Unfortunately the image quality isn't that great on my copy so you might have to try a few NSNs to find what you're looking for. If all else...

    Got my new deuce!

What's the make and model of your alternator? It looks like what I found here in the Parts TM but... Backwards? And missing screw holes for the terminal cover. Unfortunately there's no NSN reference for the terminal cover on that alternator.

    Door Handle Lever Printed (LMTV)

Have you tried printing this in ABS? That'll do a lot for durability. I also suggest printing it in a different orientation. The way the layers are printed make the handle more vulnerable to shearing apart along the layer lines at the screw hole and what looks like a catch at the tip of your...

Source for door hinge bolt and window regulator keepers (M35A2) - and seat material

I have to fix the canvas on my seats. My wife may be able to make new covers, but if you don't have access to anyone with the proper sewing skills and machinery, I'd give Beachwood Canvas a call to see if they can help you out. They've been making reproduction canvas stuff for military trucks...

    6.8 V10 in a deuce?

This is for your old gasser right? I'd say give it a shot. Up to you if you want to try and keep the transmission or try to mate it with the old 5-speed. I don't know anything about the 6-speed automatics that came with that motor or the load it can handle.

Anyone near Baxter, TN want to look at a deuce?

It could be something as simple as uneven air pressure in the front wheels or a little more involved like a tie rod end on the wobbly wheel. I think at worst it could be a wheel bearing. If I were in your position and bought the truck, I'd have it hauled home. I don't think a steering axle...

Post up those Point of View hood shots!

That can't possibly count - there's no hood in those pictures :p Is that one of the air-transportable MTVs with the collapsible cab? I always wondered if I could do that with one of those. Still want to take the top off and put the windshield down on my deuce some day like I've done with my...
