Have you been able to trace the vent lines? I can't remember which ones come up to the back of the cab. Do you build any air at all or is it just going out the line?

I'll have to remember that. I've always parked stuff with manual transmissions in gear, even my dad's WW2 and Korean-era gassers. But diesel doesn't need an on switch to work unless there's an electric fuel shut-off solenoid valve.

I'm sticking with zipper boots so that when this does happen I don't have to take the front end apart at shorter intervals than actually needed :) In the mean time make sure those knuckles are greased. My boots are torn too and I can at least see they're well-greased :D

Do you have slow leakers on your truck too?

I actually didn't realize the M35A2 trucks didn't have those handles! Although the steel hood is kinda heavy it's really easy to lift by standing on the fender and grabbing the side handle to pick up.
