    MRAP Light Set

Pallet arrived today. They did a great job packing the kit up and sealing it for shipping. Such a nice kit. Really looking forward to installing it, but I have to make my habitat roof rack and cab rack/brush guard before I can install the lights. Very impressed with the controller. Top...

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

Deep down, yeah. But there are nuances. Like the engine, the trans, the rear end, the PDP, the electrical system. :)

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

There are TM's that cover thru 2005. The electronic copies that were sold for awhile included the updated info thru 2005. The problem is they are cumulative and you really have to surf thru them end-to-end to find the A1 info. Now the A1R guys......yeah we're screwed.

New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

A few folks have modified the battery box top to fit g31's. You can hack out the nubs that fit down to hold the 6TLs then just fiberglass a patch to fill the hole.

    MRAP Light Set

I used uShip. Cost me a couple hundred bucks CA > TX via RoadRunner. Might see what they offer. 48x40x24 272lbs

What tire pressure do you use in M1078 ?

I carry an air impact, but it's mostly to speed up the change. The multiplier does the real work

    M1088 camper conversion

Awesome job. It's on my "to do" list to make a little fuel tank in that spot. How many gallons do you figure you got there?

    M1078 remove 2 batteries

Yeah, I was doing the same. Then one week of bad weather I didn't drive the truck. With the balancer on I forgot to hook up the charger. Yeah, won't be forgetting the charger again. Flattened both my bats. I have a pile of like dead 6TLs in the garage (but only three of them that I...

    Battery charging question.

Same truck and year. Mine bleeds 12v like a stuck pig. I've chased it for three years. Stumped. Costs me a 6TL if I don't drive the truck for a few days and forget to flip the disco switch (I've flattened two batteries because of it). I just leave the charger pulsing when it's parked now. :(

    WTK: LMTV Shock absorber options

This is what I'd likely run. Valved accordingly for the corner weights... KRS-PR3012-SS https://www.polyperformance.com/king-3-0-performance-series-smooth-body-reservoir-shocks

    WTK: LMTV Shock absorber options

King makes one: And Seth runs ICON's on his M1079 (Brutus): No model numbers, sorry. Ideally, you'd want to do it right at those prices. If you go with a racing shock, get with a salesman/tech and go over your weight/corner weights/travels. Then they can calculate the right body and...

!CLOSED! Cab Mount Group Buy. NEW OEM FMTV LMTV M1078, M1079, etc

I always thought that end was milled down. But as he said, I think it's just a stabilizer to keep it square when you run the bolt thru.

    MRAP Light Set

I already had two of the Ibis Tek remote spots (paid like $125 ea for those). I had been keeping an eye out for a controller (though I likely would have just made one). But this will all fit my build plan. Too good to pass up at $250 for the entire set. I may order another set just for...

    MRAP Light Set

So I saw an ad for MRAP light set $250. Full kit: all the lights, remote spots, wiring, controller. You know how if something is too good to be true....well, it was true. I spoke to the guy over the phone for about 20 mins. It's an aviation company in CA. Saw where a number of people had...

    LMTV FMTV Exhaust Brake Questions?

    Thanks for the correction.

    LMTV FMTV Exhaust Brake Questions?

Me neither. And keep in mind that exhaust braking is illegal in a lot of US cities, towns, bypasses, etc near a population. Such zones are typically well marked. Typically. I don't think the laws stipulates between semis, RVs, on military trucks.

Stewart and Stevenson for an Overland Camper?

One thing I will mention because because I feel it should be stated. It's the true Achilles heel of these trucks. They are not four-wheel-drive or six-wheel-drive. They are all-wheel-drive. Basically if you lose traction on both axels, you'll have two tires spinning and the two that are...

Stewart and Stevenson for an Overland Camper?

I've honestly never driven a 6x6 FMTV. I can tell you that the 4x4 handles like any other big pickup truck going down the road. It's hard to compare to a dually, but more about payload capacity than stability (and I don't know if you've seen one of these 396 tires in person, but they are big...

Stewart and Stevenson for an Overland Camper?

Part of the refresh process when you get the truck, typically. The two main culprits are the cab latch ($30 o-ring kit) and the hydraulic pump ($60 rebuild kit). The kits are readily available and simple to rebuild the pump (which often has failed/leaks due to sitting). The cab and spare...

Stewart and Stevenson for an Overland Camper?

4x4 vs 6x6 The 4x4 can actually fit in most parking spots. They turn in the same radius as an F350. They fit easier in a standard driveway as well. Advantages if a daily driver. Less maint of course and 2 fewer new tires to purchase. The 6x6 have several advantages as well. Wee bit...
