I cleaned the filter not long ago, it had some trash in it but not bad, it points to "clean" and fluid is full in tank. I know when she gets hot the boom control will want to stick both in up and down but when it's all cool all works like a champ. I think personally that the hydraulic pump might...
The pipe was not all that heavy, about 200 feet of 2 inch pipe but with no water in pipe (hole in pipe letting the water out) and after we let it cool down all was just fine. When it overheated we were not idling it down when unscrewing pipe (about 1 1/2 hours) then after it cooled down we would...
Yesterday we were pulling pipe out of a windmill using the M936. The boom up and down did not want to respond as it should and noticed that the Hydraulic oil got hot enough to fry an egg on top of the tank so we shut it down to let it cool off. After about 5 minutes all the sudden she blew the...
Might try and take a little funnel and take the fuel line off at the PT and pour diesel down the hose until you hear fuel running in the tank, that has worked for me before. Also there is a plug on top of PT you can take that out and pour fuel in it to help prime system. hope this helps?
There was no spacer on the original flywheel housing, and we put the old housing on the new engine. I will change starters today and see if that fixes things, Thanks
So changing out the engine that came out of a M939 series truck into a M818 we put the starter that came with new engine, all worked fine with changing the front of engine. The starter was off the M939 series engine and it is dragging bad. Do I need to shim it back/out? It is fresh rebuilt so I...
So where to start? My nephew blew the engine in the M818, long story short, we got a new engine from Kansas (Glen) and it came with a Allison glued to it. I have both engines sitting on the M1061A1 trailer so I can put stuff that belongs off one to the other. We took the Allison off today so we...
I had a hydraulic hose break on the M936 and it drained all the oil out of the storage tank. Has anyone played with the idea of installing a ball/gate valve so if this ever happens again one could shut it off saving oil?
Is the any maintenance that need to be done before I refill? Is it a good...
The last time I loaded a trailer solo, I wired a 2 x 12 board down on the dovetail on the goose neck so the jack would slide better/easier while using a come-a-long to pull. Hope this helps
Would you all mind helping design a trailer out of a 1973 white tractor truck. The truck is being scraped out but this is my idea. I will leave all axles rolling on 1100-20's on the frame front axle included, what I need is ideas how to make the front wheels follow the 5 ton's like a M989A1...
There was one thing that I am not sure went back right, inside the governor weights there was a needle with some shims and a small spring, they fell out when getting out of the bucket, the shims stayed on so we knew what side of the needle the shims stayed on. This is how we put it back...
The Ranch bought a M923 that had been sitting for who knows how long. Long story short the PT pump was gummed up (remind you of pine tar) the throttle shaft was so sticky that the spring on the throttle linkage was not strong enough to pull it back to Idle, so reaching down or pulling up with...
I have trouble getting a grease gun on the zerks on the short drive line that hooks to the engine (5 Ton), does anybody have a trick they would like to share? I have tried a needle with no luck, thanks in advance.
I learned this on SS, put your truck on level ground (if you can?) with a full tank of air in your M818 jack one front tire off the ground, get in the cab and put your truck in FIRST with ENGINE OFF, get out and turn your front tire that is jacked up forward (It should only go forward, if you...
I would drain the Transfer case and fill it with clean diesel, drive it for about 3-5 miles (with no load) and flush, repeat till clean diesel comes out. Fill it with 80w-90 and see if that helps? Remember not to let truck roll forwards when in reverse and vice-versa. Do you hear air when you...
