So, That Oracle Lighting M1079 at SEMA This Year....

Debuts next week.. Looking forward too seeing the build...(at least the cab) Some teasers:

    Alarm systems

If I were looking for a "kit" I'd do something like this. Viper has been around forever. It has a starter kill, a little blinky LED (to scare away the bad man), and when the door opens it would lay on the airhorn...

    Alarm systems

No one uses air train horns for their car alarm. That would get a lot of attention, fast IMO. :) But honestly, disabling the vehicle is pretty easy w/o any special security system. That just leaves intrusion alerts if you want them. Door pin switches and a train horn would be my goal.

    Camper Upgrades

Yeah, I just bolted a small piece of 1.5" angle to the top lip of the ramp. Then I bolted a piece of flat stock with a standoff the thickness of the angle iron to the passenger step/box (that 's the last pic). Super sturdy and quick to deploy/stow.

    Camper Upgrades

Yep, my GSD won't board w/o a ramp. LOL

    Diagnostic Readers

And it may very well work. They used advertise that it worked with 12/24v. But at the end of the day, it was a 5 minute precautionary fix. I had another reader I purchased off Amazon back in 2020 that,(like the Bluefire, displayed the data to a customizable layout/dash via a...

    Diagnostic Readers

Yeah, Bluefires has a disclaimer warning about 24v in their FAQ *I know the guy on FB burned up a couple before they sorted it out (I think it was the Bluetooth radio inside the device that smokes).

EDIT: THIS IS COMPLETE CRAP AND WRONG IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE DO NOT USE I found the pinout info that I needed. https://www.automotivecontrol.com/www.dgtech.com/product/dpa5/manual/DPA_Pinouts_Dec2012.pdf I may still just buy the damned cable.

    Diagnostic Readers

The Bluefire is up and talking to my tablet. I plugged in my J1939 Y splitter and landed one end for the OEM 24v diag port and the other end I clipped the 24v lead and fed it 12v. Plugged in the Bluefire and all was happy. Had to register the adaptor, download some gauge packs...

    Diagnostic Readers

Yeah, as per the OP and my first train of thought I have a "Y" cable coming so that I can retain the OEM port with 24v and step the power down to 12v for the Bluefire. I'll test if to confirm, but I suspect that the bluetooth signal from the Bluefire will work just fine from behind the...

Speaking of Tires: PSA of Stupidity

I get it when the truck sits up after driving in rain. Seems to be pretty common. Usually, the will pop free. The worst I saw was that little tan parts truck I picked up from San Antonio. One wheel brake was REALLY stuck good when we wen to drag it off the yard. But the 5lbs sledge...

I believe that. I believe they don't touch really a lot of things. ;)

Speaking of Tires: PSA of Stupidity

Yep, hopefully someone will see this and save one of their tires someday. Had I not had that side of the truck on the pavers, it would not have slid down the driveway w/o warning But the pavers acted as skids/slides and the tire didn't grab at all until it hit the street and I was...

    Third's Build Discussion

Yeah, seriously. Pee Wee's bike in black. LOL It's not a bad bike, though. Beach Cruisers are a big thing down here (especially on the beach) Retro-springer front end a bonus.

Speaking of Tires: PSA of Stupidity

Yeah, the tires on the truck are all still the 2008's. I have a 2012 that will go one for now (or I may just swap it with the spare and keep the 2008's on the pavement for now. No plans to buy all new Goodyears until I have then project completed. But yeah, before I travel I'll get...

Speaking of Tires: PSA of Stupidity

I'm pretty thorough on my walk-around the truck pre-drive. I inspect all the usual things, tires, lights, lines, hoses, pins, compartments, etc. So last week we had a but 8 days of solid rain/drizzle.. I had run errands on Monday and backed the truck up the driveway as always...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Disappointed to hear about the PAC brake losing effectiveness. I kinda figured that the trans would need a re-tune after the ECO hubs were added too the equation. Going to have to see what people are doing with regards to this. But damn, the loose off the effective PAC brake may be a...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I'm not surprised in the least. My 2008 A1R with OEM rims and 2008 Goodyears is smooth as silk on the highway. No balancing of the tires or even the driveshaft. I don't think it has to do with the gearing or the hubs. The vibration issues from the tires would still present...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Yeah, because potential order requests in his thread are easily lost in the various discussions there. He will get an email notification if you PM him. As popular as this thread is, he may not have all the spam notifications for each and every post. PMs are a good point of...

His phone number is on the hub cover. @Xengineguy you might want to add that image to the OP
