I'm pretty sure that in Texas it's illegal as f*** (ie: strapping a boat gas tank under your car).
But our DPS Troopers are always looking for stuff strapped under vehicles. Something like this croossing a checkpoint like Sarita?.....yeah, "Sir, I need you to pull over to the inspection...
I'm going with a little Chinese diesel heater.
I've followed them for years and with a few minor tweeks they can be made both safe and dependable.
For a couple or three grand more you can get a Webasto.
You can, I can't...
:p
Seriously though, some of their mods are really cool.
Some are sketch-af....
If this guy ever has an exhaust leak below deck, he'll get the long sleep...
Yep, that's how I did it with my A0.

But this application just seems far too vulnerable to puncture for my tastes.
ymmv
What could possible go wrong?
Seriously, I was amazed how many people thought this was just a brilliant idea.
The guy was poo-poo'ing any suggestions to add any puncture protection.
Pretty slick ! Wish I had your shop. :)
I didn't like constantly replacing the NOS retainers (especially at $50/ea surplus value). I tried the metal rod keepers that the A1R came with. They are sort of like carb rod keepers from the 50's-60's. They worked but were a total...
Throw some hockey pucks in there temporarily. Cheap and easy overnight fix. I've been running them as a lower for months now awaiting the bushing order to arrive. Inspection shows that they are holding up fine. Granted, I'd not use them as a permanent replacement (we had an old mechanic...
The look pretty clean. And I was able to reuse the cab bushing washers and sleeve on the rear bushing point (A1R) which is most exposed to the elements.
