Peppermint Proverbs
Bumping an old thread with a testimonial.
All of the trucks that received a teaspoon of peppermint oil on a tinfoil tray, are mouse free.
This link says we should soak cotton balls with the correct oil. Even a beer cap full of Peppermint oil on the floorboard has worked...
Since the right half of the map is going to be frozen to the computer for a while, lets add a few videos.
I'm hunting Civil Defence info from the mid 40's to 65'ish and run across a ton of testing/ prooving ground videos like this one.
Everything from the very odd H43A (10:00) , the YC123H...
That's a barn find. The hood support piece, running down the center of the grill, that's a rare piece. Not sure why there's a plate sticking up above it but you take great photos so I know we'll see more. The hard top asks the question....How many U.S. trucks had hard tops? The grab handle on...
V-8 Deuce
Running, driving, with brakes, extra parts, a meal and a story for 4g, maybe....but we've gotta drop 10g into these to make them worth 8 so starting at 4 makes me want to take a dump. If you were flush with cash and 4g seemed like about 1g, it was in your pocket not doing anything...
What motors would mate up to the CCKW transmission?
That truck is a nice find. Not sure if it's the same as walking into a hanger at area 51 and finding a flying flopper but I'd like to de-engineer that truck just to trace those wires.
That must be a ground bar that he ran everything....and...
I found the ancient link to the 502 Big Block, 75 MPH early deuce. Not many pictures but I bet it's still around.

One of the symptoms of loose bolts on the shift lever (g) is...... No shifts - stays in 1st gear.....so that may be a good thing.
If it only ran in reverse, the problems could be bigger and calling Ordnance Maintenance Personell to (k) replace the rear-band would be the solution.
With it...
Did that transmission ever work for you? I've got 5 years on one that shifted real hard between 2 and 3 when I bought it so we thought it was gone too.
New oil, screen filter cleaning, flushing, replacing loose linkage pins, adjusting linkage, engine rpm, throttle position, luck and driving it...
Canada Deuce, Honk Honk
Welcome to Steel Soldiers!
I really like that truck. I'd also like to see a Cat engine put in it. I've seen Big Block Chev/ Olds, Small block Chev, 6.2 diesel and heard stories about others so anything can be done.
....at the same time I'm on a preservation kick and...
My picture loading blues are over too.
I had some tough times loading photos in the past...wow....5 years.....and each time, Patracy either worked through the problem behind the scenes or messaged me back that I needed to do something.
Send him a PM and in short time, the problem always went...
Battery maintenance
The handles went to the west coast first by the looks of the tracking info. West to Richmond B.C. then across the map over to your place in about 5 days. Sounds like a great trip. If a 200lb box shows up on your step, could you open it and get me a glass of water?
Are there...
Jan. 29, Deuce in Canada, 10° above freezing
What did they say about not stopping on the ice?
After plowing off a runway, hockey rink and race track I had time to roll Goose out of the barn. I was sure I'd get her stuck because I'm still running front driveshaftless.
Not having the...
My good buddy, mister taper and his dogs came out and we tried to get a decent pic of the docs, focused on the master.........but they were excited and just wanted to run.
......until we started tossing firewood, then they wouldn't get out of the way. I had to get a pic.
Battery Hold Down Brackets
We decided to swap a fresh pair of batteries into Goose and see if we could get stuck.
The battery height was just a hair taller so fought with the brackets a little.
Moral of the story is, "If you build a battery hold down bracket, make sure your threaded rod is...
One convoy with the MVPA ALCAN run waaay back in 2012 had 40 or more units approach the border. We fed them and gave them Canadian pop once they arrived but I didn't hear about any border complaints. Maybe some of the ALCAN kids will chime in and tell us how they made out.......
I haven't made...
Hydraulic Teardown
Is it still a mystery what the hydraulics were hooked up to or did you find a big ol' tree spade hiding in the back?
I noticed a flat pate with a hole in it under the front fender so the truck has a few stories to tell. Really cool find, keep the pics coming.
I'm glad you've got the pictures working because I need more. That hydraulic ish tank looking thing is similar to the electric over hydraulic system on my dump box.
It could have been for a plow but I don't like guessing so push buttons and levers and get pics of where that thing goes?
How's...
This link works for me and at :57 seconds the 1950's deuces roll into the screen of a WW11 movie that states....This is a true story.

So I did the research and this is more evidence that Hollywood had their own Philadelphia experiment or borrowed...
I gotta get new glasses....looked like CARNAC on the bumper which would be a little ironic.
There have been changes up here on gathering and releasing info on vehicles. I've seen some success using freedom of information requests so how would that work south of the 49th?
With the changes and...
