    G749 preservation

G749 Historical Journey Took the same 12 mile drive that my Grandparents would take on horseback in the early 1900's. It's only 115 years later but I finally found time to give a little back and run Goose into Stony Plain for the Farmers Day Parade tomorrow. This is a beautiful little town with...

    1952 M135 W/Winch

I'll be with Goose tomorrow for her 1st big parade so if they're not posted by midnight, I'll measure up. For the fun of it, take a measurement between your rails as they sit now and we'll see how close that is to two 2 sets of original racks that I have. Nice upgrade, it's not made of wood so...

Engine sound - don't like what I am hearing - Help me diagnose

I'm thinking out-loud and you mentioned critters. Is it worth pulling the muffler and having a listen again? The banana in the tail-pipe hasn't been looked at so maybe we check for too much back-pressure for the fun of it? We need to put the grab bar to work without loosing our head.

If I'm finally right about something I'm glad it's G749 parts. Would you mind if I copy and paste this to send to my ex? She WAS wrong about me! I AM right once in a while. rofl Kinda looks like your wife might be right about you though. Got a little green part collection addiction going on...

50's model Deuce with Hercules Gas Engine

Mystery truck I thought I saw an M54? with a Hercules in it. That would be cool if it was a big ol' 5 ton. Wiki say Continental so my hope may be dashed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M54_%28truck%29 Standard transmission? You said 4 speed but didn't specify if there was a third pedal. The...

G749 Leaky diffs That was easy, thank great mechanics! Passed a dear that was grazing in the ditch on the way out to assemble the 135 hub. Asked a knowledgeable MVPA brother to come and supervise, I knew it was going to be a good day. Might have found a few contributing factors that helped...

    Possible acquisition

That is beautiful! I'd give my left brother for a round cab like that. Now that it's out of the bush she looks like a keeper. Keep the photos coming and thanks for sharing.

    Winch drum not turning?

Winch Key I have a recently non-functioning winch on the old M135. This is the schematic for the G749 winches and I think CC, 'key', somehow slipped out. This one came out of the drain-hole when we pulled the bottom plug and apparently I can't just shove it back in the drain-hole to get it to...

......and I picked the yellow labelled, Pennzoil Red grease to keep the red/yellow color theme going too. You're just looking out for what's best for the trucks so we should treat you to a lemonade

M135 Storage stands Those stands are now going on the list of things to do. There's always some warm days in the winter a guy can fire up but might not be able to drive around in 9 feet of snow. Thanks for the info. We're now thinking that we parked the truck on a side slope and left it...

G749 Diff leak trouble shoot Looks like we had a second nest attempt on the front axle of Goose that either failed or was raided at some point. The birds like trucks and scaffold. Here are a few more pics for diagnostics. The new digital cameras are great. Here's a close up of the old and...

    G749 preservation

MV Bird house I had to add a few pics to show off Gracie's new residents, right under the door to the bed, below the penthouse. We saw the Robin fly out but the nest was deep so had to stick a camera in there to see if she was nesting or just trying to aggravate us. Gracie's gonna be a Mommy...

G749 Leaky diffs Thanks for the extra eyes gentlemen. Found a limo driving mechanic to come help but he's never seen anything go bad like that. We're just going to stay sharper on replacement and be sure to pack the seal spring pocket before assembly. The rears were done by my certified...

    G749 preservation

G749 Leaky diffs I wish I knew, I'd like it back! I think it's here on the back of the wheel. The diff fluid must have gone down the valley. The inner seal had to be hole that it found to leak into the drum. With the spring gone and no damage on the rubber, bearings or races it happened quick...

    G749 preservation

G749 Leaky diffs After backing off the adjusters on the brakes I still had to us little cheater strap to help pull off the hub. I couldn't tell if the spring from the seal made it tougher to get off but using the strap allowed me to tension it up and using a soft hammer, wiggle it off. The boys...

    G749 preservation

G749 Leaky diffs Has anyone seen the spring in the inner hub seal try to invade the bearings? We had a chance to get at the leaky rear wheel on the 135 and I found some of the best help. There's no shortage of try with these guys so after hanging from the ratchet, sitting on the ratchet, we...

    Cab ID

Is that a G749 shock mount behind the front wheel? The front diff looks familiar. From up here it looks like a G749 chassis, CCKW front clip, the 40's Oshkosh cab and you want it. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=292207&page=92 Any chance it has a 302 gas engine in it?

Drive with the nose for a leaky heater hose Did a tour today to watch the new 'museum' drone learn how to take pictures of the bunker. Had the slightest scent of sweet anti-freeze after an hour on the road so did a Post Parting inspection. Managed to spot the leak before it caught me in...
