PPCLI Carrier
Is this the carrier? Real nice if it is. Even held the buttons back on my jacket before I leaned into it, glad I did now.
The hanger display was 100 years long so I snapped a lot of pictures. It's been a real honour to be part of the PPCLI celebration.
PPCLI 100th Anniversary
The MVPA dragged equipment 200 miles to put on a dynamic display at Edmonton's celebration for the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry PPCLI 100th Anniversary.
Goose had many visitors today who remembered the M135's and 211's that they drove in the service. This...
G749 Front windows
Just a bump and up-date on a visit to the All West Glass to build some new front windows for the M135. I asked if I could jump in the back of the shop with them on a slow day and watch how they'd do it. They were very accommodating.
Using a product called Easy Seal, they...
M135 Preservation
In preparation for the PPCLI 100th Anniversary this weekend I gave up some time to help wash the windows in this old beater. http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/deuce/index.html
We hit the highway with it and other than missing all the rattles and noise, it runs just like mine, but...
Too bad you don't have a donor truck close by. It gives a guy more confidence to tear stuff apart. Having super mechanics around saying stuff like, "Just make a gasket", "just use a puller", " just service it", "just take it apart and fix it" "why can't you put a seal in straight" or "grab the...
Italy is on the other side of the planet. When you finally got around to uploading the last two pictures you spun around to this side of the planet and they loaded correctly. No computer magic there.
Hard to get a close up of something that long but a couple of 45 degree pics off the nose and a...
I had a battery go dead after I cleaned it so I'm bumping a "Safety" thread with a bit of a puzzle.
Pops showed us that mixing baking soda and warm water, then aggressively pouring it on an acid covered post will clean it. I've done it a hundred times.
Yesterday that action killed a battery so...
Edmonton's museum http://www.albertaaviationmuseum.com/ owns a Mosquito and we dig our Mosquitos in Canada http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Mosquito.
One just flew at the Geneseo airshow http://www.1941hag.org/Geneseo-Airshow/aircraft.html
......and I found the vid of the Mosquito...
That is a lucky find! Taking the box off makes everything easier and is known to reduce head wounds.
With that 6' of extra frame and your spare parts I'd like to see a triple axle, 4 door deuce, with a deck on the back big enough to haul a deuce.....or a 20'x8' swimming pool which would double...
Driving Around inside the shop......you have too much room and need more trucks.
When I struggled with my electrical and asked for back-up the local support said.
."it's just wiring"..... and somehow that made it easier.
So...uh.....it's just wiring...
Can't wait to pick up all the kids from...
We found out that if you drain the bell housing and put the plug back in you can get it to a few more shows. I added a bottle of 'fix everything in your engine' off the shelf from my local parts store. It ran for a few hours on the weekend cruising around the airport and the 1 litre oil capacity...
I checked the TM's and it just says "notify ordnance maintenance personnel". After you do that we should be able to just jump in and drive.
I have not had that symptom and it's not in the manual. Your truck has an extra funky handle on the side of the shift tower that I understand is the REB...
MVPA Hometown Hero Welcome
In 2012, part of the American MVPA Alcan convoy stopped at a small, remote, northern airport to help us honor their Hometown Heroes. Two years later the folks that live there still talk about the overwhelming professionalism the MVPA displayed...
G749 windshield glass
We're in this together, here's Goose still waiting for glass, months later.
My kids at All West Glass were actually having trouble getting something to replace the rubber on the outer edge of the frame. SuperDave tossed me 4 seals from the M35 and I shouldn't be...
At 6-9 grand for a set of rubber one might think that current rubber track manufacturers would have an interest.
I'm paying close to that to replace tracks on a mini-hoe and T190 bobcat skidsteer so maybe it's not a bad price for bigger tracks.
This is a short link for "Rubber Track...
Nice! Very Nice!
Could you share the paint codes and source?
That girl needs a nomination for MV of the month and certainly needs to be added here....http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?58040-The-unofficial-g749-picture-thread!!!!/page9
Beautiful work!
Canadian Military Paint Codes
Trying to get the paint on these two units
........so we pulled up a bunch of paint info using the search terms "Canadian Military Paint Codes". This seemed like the right place to store the data. The M135 has the BATUS paint scheme and may require research...
Troop seat short leg measurement
Torus, torque convertor......, how about "Fluid Coupler".......here's the 1953 fluid coupler video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leCEmJA0WsI
Maybe one of those brilliant mechanic types will explain the 'easy way' to get at the brakes. I see them talk about...
