Hornet Safety
Just a cool old thread bump and friendly reminder to open your doors and look for pests before jumping on the seat and starting your MV.
After filling the M207 Shop van with fuel and lifting the hood to scare any cats out of the fanbelts, I jumped in the cab and turned on the...
CUCV Hub Heat
Things I learned on my Steel Soldiers:
The habit of immediately and 'carefully' touching your hubs, rims, rubbers and nuts after any length of drive will tell you how your toys are performing. Feeling heat is bad. Following maintenance at the times and mileage the manufacturer...
That is a really good question. I have a half dozen sets of troop seats so I need to look if they all have adjustments.
Maybe we can get some more American Early Deuce owners to chime in and tell us if they have holes in the posts or brackets on the boards????
My original canvas has...
Those are the pins for adjusting the height of the bows. The 'L' shaped pin is held in place with a bracket and attached with a chain to the back 'board' 7397995 so we don't loose it. Holes are drilled in the 'tube' 7397996 at two different heights so the bows can be lifted and secured for tall...
Endura Paint
Goose was a mess out at the farm
so I needed to SPEND some time cleaning her up and PAY some attention to her. The Endura paint has had a tough test recently so it's a good time to see how it's holding up. After paint in 2010, Goose spent the first year in a tent, two years in...
Rear Seal
Had a plan to drive 40 miles into town and I'm not sure if it was the excitement of leaving the farm or the fear of the highway but Goose started dripping steady between the engine and bell-housing while parked at the gate.
Need to add a section in the TM's showing the oil capacity...
G749 Troop seats
It's raining G749's, nice truck. Thanks for posting the part numbers. The intake hose looks like a great replacement and we can add it to the Parts List.
Here's a couple of pics of the seats. I'm sure I have better pics in the TM's so let us know if you need something else.
The rim on the M135 actually makes the rears narrower than the front. It's done that way so the rears don't follow in the same track as the front which improves mudinability. Read that in the Tms.......Doghead made me.
The smaller off-set looks better on the 135 so you may need M135 parts but...
Xm211
What a cool Dad. Can't wait to see his next father's day gift. I'm just in awe looking at one of the rarest Early Deuce models and what a great story to go with it, thank you for sharing. A little MVPA love. When you get a chance could you share some photos of the details, engine...
M211 Window removal
Found a minute to get on the M211 and pull the front windows for some new glass and frames waiting at the window shop. This is the forth truck I pulled windows out of and the first one that came apart easy. Had to show off the shiny fasteners that came out clean so I have...
Single again
What kind of truck do you have?
I don't want to make any assumptions so I assume you're talking about the M211 double dually
and making it single like the M135 so you can go camping.
Here's a picture from the parts manual for the different hubs. It sounds like pictures...
Have you washed her lately? One of my noises was a lawnchair in the back. Cleaned out the truck, greased it and the noise went away.
Hopefully the WD40 found it and a guy can breath easier knowing that it doesn't sound like that little flappy piece in the transmission.
We use a wood dowel as a...
Those are all great ideas so a plan is in the works. The kid came up with an idea to stuff black balloons in the nozzles, tail-pipes and any other holes where a guy wouldn't loose them. Now all I think about is trying to blow one out of the stack.
A friend found a bag to store his testosteronsa...
MV's and birds
Had to leave the farm for a few weeks and move a friend's Bobcat to the Sunshine Coast.
Excavated a few boulders out of his new shop area and headed home after 4 days of hard rain......on the Sunshine Coast.
First thing we find when we land at the G749 farm is the P-4 gate...
A Windsor welcome from the warm West. Long cold winters will make anyone want to build a tank so make it a T-55 replica and the boys on the Wet coast can use it for their movie.
Butt.......Now that Howe and Howe built this, ya just gotta build one faster...
Thats the pattern.....first/second......a sweet bang into third all in level , slide shifter to hilly and hold until you want it to shift instead of the trani deciding. Goose is happy not being shifted but does enjoy beating peterbilts so yes..... I shift on fridays.
It's in one of the...
You can hang onto third longer by pulling the
Shifter back to hilly once in second....waiting for rpm.....then slide
Shifter into level. I replaced pins, took the slop out of the linkages and the shifting
Got better the more I drove .
There is a section on trouble shooting transmission shifting...
Well we should talk about some timing there Kingmachine because this plowboy heading west to Powell River. Pulling a skidsteer and some tools from the prairies to the ocean front and should have the weekend and part of next week to visit.
Trying to get the horseshoe ferry by Friday morning at...
Thanks for doing that, no cracks in the wheel that I can see, no floor rust. I'm just not sure if it's been just partially re-built or if it has just been mothballed properly. Looks like the data plate is miSSing and someone started on the gauges however you could have a very rare, original...
You make it look easy. A dream truck with less concern flying down the highway. This will have a lot of heads nodding up and down with some boys already starting their plans based on a bus, very cool. Wrapping an early deuce around some modern running gear would be a good future plan for me but...
