M1083 reliabilty as daily work truck.

Clean looking rig ! Yeah, as suggested you might want to start your own thread. Ether is used to assist in cold starts by very briefly altering the fuel/air mix. The ether is stored in a bottle behind the cab. It looks like a little red c02 bottle. Unscrew it and take it in as an exchange...

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

So all just to announce you're adding some fancy ice cream freezer to the build?

    LMTV Shocks Absorbers

Ian on FB is the fellow running the Kings. His is an RV build and he also has some sort of air-bag support going on.

    LMTV Shocks Absorbers

Saw a guy on FB that was running King 2.5 Smoothie Bypass. I think the Kings he ran were 21.25” compressed and 35.25" extended. Stock LMTV shocks are 20.94” compressed and 33.26” extended. No info on valving.

    Third's Build Discussion

Oh....well this is ...uncomfortable. Ignore all those images in you in box.

    StarLink In Motion

Why don't you just steal the pics and copy/paste what was said. I applied to that group again and still crickets. Not your fault, but that **** p**** me off. Even FB users (the weakest minds in social media) can't gain access due to slacker mods/admins. What a lame excuse for a group...

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

Thanks ! Always looking for good war flicks. One of my old favorites (filmed thru the eyes of a combat mopic photographer):

Are there any pics? What did he use for the enclosure he mentioned?

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

    Definitely want to hear more.
  13. Third From Texas

    StarLink In Motion

    That is interesting.

    Wire loom tape?

I'd use shrink tape if I wanted it to be permanent or if it might be exposed to environment. If you want future access (ie removal) I use a top-end 3M. If it's to be accessible and around heat sources I'd go with a heat resistant like the Tesas above. But don't waste money on the cheap...

    step replacement options

Go big or go home! *note that it works both open and closed :)

LMTV M1078 Transmission Fluid Change To ATF Write Up

Yep IMO, the only way to be certain is to pull a sample from the sample port that can be tested to confirm if there is the slightest question. It's not expensive (like $10).

    StarLink In Motion

Dunno. It's a barrier island off the coast from the King ranch. You don't hit many towers down there unless they are inland along I77 corridor. It's not a populated area. Data drops out on my phone just about right at the "4x4 Vehicles Only Beyond This Point" sign (about five miles past where...
  18. Third From Texas

    StarLink In Motion

A couple things of note about that video (unrelated to Starlink): 1) It's the Gulf of Mexico, not "the ocean" ;p 2) It's almost always windy here (especially during the day) with very few exceptions (especially in the Spring/Fall). Late Summer is the calmest 3) In several of the edited shots...
  19. Third From Texas

    StarLink In Motion

Here's a review of the Starlink RV (not the In Motion) actually done down PINS (Padre Island National Seashore). Keep in mind he's not really further than the typical tourist ventures (he still has cel service, about another 5 miles and he wouldn't). There's some 60 miles (each way) of...

    StarLink In Motion

Oh trust me, I'm not dropping $2K on it. The $600 version is even a bit more than I can justify but it's not as bad as alternatives for sat internet. Starlink antennas are actually flat panels, not a traditional dish. With the portables, you set them up on their little tripod and they buzz...
