Heck, my 003A does that for me. I've never worried about load management with it running. With a 40 kW generator your worry would shift to wet stacking.
Auto start isn't necessary in all installations. I don't mind manually starting my 003A. It lets me look over things, listen for unusual sounds or leaks, and generally stay aware of its condition. I also like to wait about five minutes after a power failure to start the generator to let the...
I recently did that with a tire pressure gauge that I thought had marks every 2 psi like another one I have. I had to go back are re-fill about 8 tires when I figured it out.
Clean power without spikes maybe, but they're normally very insensitive to voltage and frequency errors. You can check the labels, but a typical one might say it's OK with 90-130 volts and 50-60 Hz. Some of my electronics are OK with 100-250 volts! My inverter welder automatically adapts to...
In the world of electrical stuff, 5 or 10 percent is not normally a big deal. Running at 62 Hz is only 3-1/3 percent high. The only thing that will care is an old fashioned electric clock, because it'll be 2 minutes ahead after an hour of running.
Right, batteries aren't anything special. I put a couple group 24 Walmart batteries in my 003A five years ago, keep the acid level right, and they're still working like they did when new.
I use a Walmart lawn tractor battery in my Clark fork lift because it fits in the long narrow battery...
Since these batteries were at a surplus chain store, the buyer may have found them without coming to this board, in a routine search for parts to sell. Of course Rustystud's advice is still valid in any case.
Agreeing with Chief_919, RV generators are designed for high duty cycle use, and the new versions are extremely quiet. The last one I heard running was so quiet I could sleep next to it in a sleeping bag with no trouble.
So the advice is always turn off the main breaker before shutting off the generator? That is part of our usual procedure here. I wrote up a step by step procedure, and other family members have shown they can safely get the house on generator power if the commercial power goes out. Once I...
Tractor PTOs are normally 540 RPM, and some have a 1,000 RPM option. The PTO generators I've seen have a gearbox or belt drive to get up to 1,800. Two or three V belts with the right size pulleys should work, but you'd have to deal with shafts and bearings, etc.. It would be a project, no doubt.
