What did you do to your deuce this week?

Our Deuce is still a NO START. With Gimpy's internet, phone and text support, I had the courage to get deep inside the Hydraulic Head - FINALLY, after many delays, eyesight challenges, Soldier B's TDY's, my own other priorities, and UNCOOPERATIVE WEATHER. What i found in there was NOT what I...

    Oshkosh M978 Certificate of destruction

Sad that useful machines and their parts and being needlessly destroyed. I'm wondering if January 20, 2017 will bring some changes in policy and demil codification. Disclaimer: NOT a political post, but merely reflecting upon potential changes in policy with our newly elected Commander-In-Chief.

    Spare Motor

We have a multi-fuel engine in a can that came with our Deuce. It took a while to get someone to come by the LZ with the ability to lift it out of the bed and down to the ground.... but eventually a contractor working nearby did it for us. Later we acquired an M105 trailer in marginal shape to...

    EXPORTING a M911 Oshkosh

I'm curious.... 1. Did YOU acquire this M911 from Uncle Sam through one of his Contract Auction Houses (GovLiquidation, GovPlant, etc.)??? Or did YOU purchase it from a previous PRIVATE PARTY (Individual or Business)? 2. If you were the FIRST private owner, were YOU REQUIRED to apply for and...

SPRUCE GOOSE: She Flew ONCE, 69 Years Ago Today!

Thanks for adding that! So graceful an airplane. I have read engineering studies that validate the design and predict that with a full fuel load but no cargo she could have most probably successfully flown loops, and would have had no problems doing common aerobatics, too.

SPRUCE GOOSE: She Flew ONCE, 69 Years Ago Today!

I subscribe to THE HISTORY CHANNEL's daily email: THIS DAY IN HISTORY. Today's feature: The 69th anniversary of the Spruce Goose's one and only flight, one mile with Howard Hughes at her controls...

Official 2016 Georgia Rally Multimedia GMVR16 Thread

I've often dreamed of an MV Flash Mob event, but hesitated in light of possible Law Enforcement Action when "terrorized" citizens misunderstood the non-violent gathering. Let us be the cooler heads that prevail.

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

Looks good! About how much paint did it take to paint that trailer? (Did you do the underside too?)) In Uncle Sam's motor pool (particularly during the Viet Nam era, would the wheels be BLACK or the same OD GREEN as the trailer body? (I realize that once in the field, color-matching was a low...

Need Part: IP Pump Hydraulic Head Ring Clip needed to hold button on rod

Not to hijack, but.... The human eye regenerates lens cells constantly. They grow from the edge of the lens and 'push' toward the center. It takes about 3-6 months to completely replace the lens. There are MANY difference things that cause cataracts. Since I had SHINGLES that started in...

Need Part: IP Pump Hydraulic Head Ring Clip needed to hold button on rod

I'm picking up this "blog" from the thread about STUCK FUEL SHUT-OFF RODs... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?143476-How-to-remove-the-Fuel-Shutoff-Rod-on-the-IP/page3 For the first Chapter of our situation, follow that thread's recent posts. Here's an overview... Following a...

How to remove the Fuel Shutoff Rod on the IP

Great THANKS to gimpyrobb for his mentorship on our ongoing NO START problem. Having exhausted the STUCK FUEL SHUT-OFF thought, AND replacing the Air Filter as previously mentioned, we have determined that the BUTTON & its CLIP may have come off the Hydraulic Head. Since this fresh diagnosis...

How to remove the Fuel Shutoff Rod on the IP

OK, it's Friday evening and i have been inside the cover...... Opened it up (surprisingly easy other then reaching over and "behind" the heater box & fan) and found it to be CLEAN AS A WHISTLE ! I put my finger under/below the retainer bar and the shut-off moved freely, and even returned to the...
