309th Aerospace Maintenance And Regeneration Group

Thanks for that info. The bird that picked me up at the small airfield at Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland was definitely jet powered though. When I got onboard the only vacant seat was the forward facing one by the door. My knee was rubbing the short stowed boarding ladder for the short flight...

I just read the WIKI about the S-3 Viking. I am CONFUSED. In the late 70's I did one carrier landing aboard a similar aircraft that had the same apparent external configuration but was internally configured for TWO Cockpit Crew + 5 Passengers (four facing aft - for less traumatic carrier...

Rocky, Suffice it to say that the Santa-Scan-O-Meter is PEGGED.... but I will exercise my God-given right to disclosure and NOT state to which end of the scale the needle is pressing.. What happens between me and my Mrs. Claus at the North Pole stays at the North Pole ! Carry on.

    Toys For Tots 2015 Events

Steve, We actually had the day broken into three shifts for the Firefighter and Intel Students. That Group shot is just the 0800 shift at the beginning of the day. We had some Marines so enthusiastic that they signed up for ALL THREE shifts !!! Great young men and women - all of them. John

San Angelo, Texas The Last 12-Hour Donation Drive was yesterday (Saturday)... Here's some photographic evidence as my AAR on the event..... Receiving orders and logging emergency numbers into each Marine's cell phone. What an outstanding group! Though ready to fight ISIS, they are also...

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

My father was in the US Army, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone at the close of WWII. He became a avid fan of the engineering of the canal's operational components, including and especially the MULES that are used to pull (and brake) the ships traversing the locks. As this thread's HET needs...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Short answer: You CAN but it's potentially hazardous to your batteries' health. While a USB Charger will be an almost insignificant LOAD on the one battery, folks have often used the 12 volt (half battery bank) to power their heavier load inducing equipment such as fire truck emergency lights...

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

Let's remember to do the math on this ship movement. The reality of it is that the true load is not the weight of the cargo but the FRICTION in the bearings. Overcoming the initial inertia (from stationary to any speed above 0) is the hardest part of the job. Even stopping will eventually...

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

I was SO RELIEVED to see that the ship was being S T R E T C H E D instead of yet another BOB-JOB on Steel Soldiers' bandwidth. On another note.... That HET is brute enough to haul boats bigger than Bubba's baby bass boat ! ! ! Great submission to the site. Carry on.

    Potential new member (M818 questions)

Sorry that I'm a late arrival to this thread. Thank you Warthog for mentioning the XM818 we just recently got from the Midland (Texas) County Sheriff's Office. From the most recent post by the OP of this thread, it seems the Commissioners are NOT very anxious to actually liquidate this truck...
