    Submarines, now MRAPS, Latin style

not voting, why not? Would not mind getting into a discussion on that over a beer. Besides, I think many US citizens would agree with what I said (which was a bit black and white, I agree). I focused more on its use than on its "BOBBED MV" character. Then again, you probably would not want...

    Submarines, now MRAPS, Latin style

Just outlaw them, and shoot on sight with anti-tank weapons. Nobody who is legal needs such a thing, neither here nor there. For me, it's not a very inventive thing, its and out and out declaration of open warfare. One inch steel plates, but still normal tires. A good machine gun or a grenade...

Is this in our future at GL?

Can't you guys and galls write a letter to your congressman or whatever to stop this waste of gov money or something, or at least make clear rules when something should be mutilated and what that means? Now its a Russian roulette to see how far they want you to go. Slipping a few greenbacks...

Is this in our future at GL?

For a truck, what does "mutilation" means exactly? Just cut through chassis, or destroy everything usable or what? Are you allowed to repair a mutilated vehicle or "rebuild it by putting all stuff on top of another frame (= other VIN number?)

    Flushing differential before refilling?

Thanks. Presumably I should do the same for the transfer case and transmission oils? While we are at it, I am replacing the hydraulic steering oil and steering gearbox oil as well, both with W10 oil conform specs. Any special flushing recommended here?

    Flushing differential before refilling?

FB, thanks. With good quality spec gear oil here costing around $ 36/gallon and needing around 8 gallons for one total change, I prefer the solution of adding a bit of diesel and try it that way. Next question: does the residue of diesel-oil mix staying behind in the housing harms the fresh...

    still alive and kickin

Tens of thousands of trucks were sold as surplus in Europe and around the world. I don't know how much were given or sold to then-friendly nations that are now a bit less friendly. Think Persia (now Iran), Iraq, and Afganistan, to name but the most obvious ones. Once they are sold as...

    Flushing differential before refilling?

I have the truck sitting on clogs. How long should I run it there in second or whatever gear to get things up to operating temp, with the engine running at around 1500 rpm (or should that be higher)?

Door Latch not returning back into position

Passenger door had a non-functional latch, which is against DoT requirements. Turned out that the spring was broken and the rod between inside handle and lock was bent. Straightened out the rod and then what. In the end we used a spring coil from the window turning mechanism of an old 2CV...

    The ULTIMATE MV ?

For clarification: nod32 is the product name of ESET

    Flushing differential before refilling?

I am going to change drive-train oils also this month. Should you warm up the differential oil first by normal driving, then add the diesel? I would not want to run around with diesel in there too long, but draining oil that is not warm does not sound like a good idea either. Is just getting...

    Anyone have a BMP/OT-90?

Probably because they can sell inside the EU for similar prices without the hassle. Besides, several of the sellers are not really full-time big players on the international market, that is, outside the European Union, so they would probably have little experience with all the hoops they have to...

    The ULTIMATE MV ?

Norton used to be good, but ended up like Vista: too big and resource-draining and not working properly. With a non-profit working with students and volunteers (using IE for youtube, porno and other stuff you don't want to know), we had to have good stuff. AVG is good but Nod32 Business seems...

    The ULTIMATE MV ?

I tried to open the page in Firefox and got several warnings, after checking around and googling on that site, also the warning: What is the current listing status for projectboats.com?Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer. Part of this site was listed...

    Oldies selling oldies

I'd love to. Unfortunately, although they are not expensive in parts, they do not give presents either. They know what they have and that there always will be some market for them somewhere on the world where they can ship it to, so no need to dump stuff for low prices.

    Oldies selling oldies

And some Dutch DAF YB 626 6X6 diesel wreckers I had them uploaded by mistake to a different thread I was also responding to.

    Why your transmission leaks oil

Makes sense and does not. With regular checks, I would accept the oil should not be lower than the 1/2". However, when draining hot oil and refilling, I would think they would give a max level, or they just go by the amount. Whatever, I will split the difference.

    Oldies selling oldies

Made a visit again to buy some stuff. They had cleaned the yard and put all the trucks nice in line. The last but one pic shows the back of a line of Vans. At the end of that line, they have a few tank trucks (last pic).

    Why your transmission leaks oil

Ron, please don't get me nervous. What you are saying is that the civi design asks for a "fill to the plug level", and the army LOWERED the recommended level to avoid leaking in heavy nose-down position? That would mean that when filled according the army lub order, the trans actually is...
