    New M1089 FMTV owner

I still need to to take my kick panel down and read the numbers from my pressure transducer. And there's no way to test the transducer itself. Funny thing, the PCU hangs "upside down" in the LMTV, which I think causes moisture and crud to get into the transducer. My old transducer was all cruddy...

If that's a transmission hole, it's in the pan, not the main transmission case, and that's a replaceable part. But IMHO, the hole is too far forward to be caused by a bad drive shaft, and the transmission, transfer case, and ground underneath are amazingly clean for having a hole in the...

That connector you've pictured is for your PCU solenoids. Test by disconnecting the plug from the ECU. Test resistance between plug (not ECU) pins B to ground, C to ground, and R to ground, then B to C, B to R, and C to R. You should get around 60 Ohms when measuring pin to ground, and around...

WARNING - If you haven't been warned before, make sure that the truck master power switch is off when you are plugging/unplugging the ECU. Bad things can happen... I managed to find a complete PCU on <large online auction site> in the Collectibles/LMTV or FMTV. Swapped entire upper half...

Your CTIS - when does the 5-flashing start? On mine, I'd hit the master switch on, and even without pressure or the truck running, my CTIS ECU would flash HWY 1-2 times, then all 5 would start flashing. I had a bad PCU transducer. Otherwise, 5-flashing could be a bunch of stuff. The pressure...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

Interesting... The FMTV uses the Meritor 611 series axles with an 11.7" ring gear. The ones you found are the Meritor MX-810 series with same size ring gear. Similar specs but physically very different. You can see some info here: http://www.mhvsil.com/pdf/defence-axles/RF_611-Axles%20ss.pdf and...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

I'm thinking that these are for something much bigger than an LMTV, like HEMMT or MK48. I'm basing that on the upper steering arms each having a pivot, not just the left side like the LMTV. Also, the center chunk is offset to the wrong side and "flatter" top and bottom, LMTV chunk is more rounded.

    LMTV CTIS Question

Update - did a temp fix to the brakes, fired up the truck. HWY light flashed for a few minutes, heard air at the tires for a few, then burst of pressure, hissing stopped, HWY light stopped flashing. Success! Sort of - selected SAND mode, SAND started flashing. Got more air hissing, then after a...

    LMTV CTIS Question

Welp, I may have a fully functional CTIS! That is, pending fixing my two right rear air chambers so I can pressurize the air system on the truck. I re-checked wiring and it checked good. Then I found a PCU on flea-bay, in the Memorabilia section! Looked pretty good other than a cracked fitting...

When you're done with your drive shafts, you could make your money back on the tool by renting or selling it. I'd be interested, I want to pull my drive shafts and get them checked...

They've also had some other weird stuff out there. Look up the D-21 drone. I saw one in shipping at Dover AFB.

Lucky you, getting to play in the Boneyard! The only time I spent in the Boneyard doing a half-day survival school refresher training in an empty section. Otherwise, my time was spent on the flightline. There's a few birds out there that I've flown and worked on before getting out at 11 years...

Thoughts on rear air brake chamber assemblies

Heh. Fix one thing, another breaks. Now that I've fixed the left side chambers, I now hear air from the right side chambers. I've already got two spare Type 9 diaphragms, just need to order the two Type 16 for the spring brakes. I'm getting a little too good at this...

    LMTV CTIS Question

Welp, I did as SuprMan suggested and turned up the compressor governor 1/4 turn. Per the 20-3 TM, counterclockwise from the front of the motor increases pressure. That didn't do a thing. I finally paid attention (too poor to normally pay attention) and realized that my CTIS ECU fails when I...

Thoughts on rear air brake chamber assemblies

Broke on the road makes sense to get the whole assembly. Sitting in the driveway not needed for work or anything, I had the time to order, take apart, reassemble, and learn. No pressure like being broken somewhere, thankfully.
