Ok, Thanks Again Artisan! We were able to get a hold of Steve, he's given us a couple ideas, one being a regular tire shop, so we may be able to figure something out here.
Still working on it though, will update as things progress.
Thanks Dave, Very Much Appreciate the help! We're running into the same thing on our end, we've called every shop we have found so far, and all of them also seem to be closed too. Looks like we may have to just sit tight until monday.
Thanks for the reply Flyingvan911 and that's a Good thought. But we had already disconnected the manifold heater fuel lines and wires back a few months ago (as we couldn't get it to work properly) and installed an ether system to replace it.
Also the oil, on the dip stick or whats leaked out...
Hey All, its been a while since I've made a post. Just been Really Busy, and we are currently in the middle of moving. A few days ago we left from a friends place in Kansas, and took the 'eastern' route on hwy 385/85 toward North Dakota, which we then took Interstate 94 to Billings Montana...
OK, Ive been searching today... And there is a lot of posts here on SS about how heavy of a trailer you can pull with the deuce.
BUT What about Payload (Whats in the Deuce Bed) PLUS pulling a Trailer??
Here is what I want to do:
We have an M35A2 that we have owned for a little over a year...
After thinking about the wiring again. I do remember when I was going through the deuce wiring harness, the wires to the manifold heater would pretty bad. So I cut back to good wire, and added on a new lead and mil connector. I think I'm going to recheck that. I doubt its the problem, as I have...
I agree with you partially. Di-electric grease is electrically insulating, and is usually used for spark-plug boots and other similar rubber type connections, for ease of installation and to seal the connection.
However, Di-Electric grease can also be used on almost any electrical connection...
I've went through most of the electrical system, BUT that is a possibility. I might take the connections apart and take a look. i do have electrical cleaner, and Di-electric grease.
I found a few threads here that referred to "Quick-Start" brand/company. However, when I 'googled' it and found their website, it errors out and the site does not load. Don't know if its just a problem with their website, or if the company went out of business, or...?
Anyway, I did find a...
Well, as bad as I hate to, I might have to go with an ether system. I really hate to, but I just don't know what else to do.
I need to have this working, as I'm going to be driving this truck through montana soon. And with winter temps in the rockies, I think the deuce will have to have some...
Plug gap was about .085 or so, I took it up to .100
But after re-installing it, no change, the manifold heater still doesn't ignite.
Back to square one I guess...
Ok, just pulled the spark plug again, and it was soaked with fuel. I laid it up on the air filter, and tested it again. It fired a nice bright continuous spark just like last time.
So the injector-nozzle is has nice atomized cone shape fuel spray. And I have strong spark, but still don't have...
Ether...
no thanks, just don't like using ether.
------------------
The deuce starts fine, but I'm getting ready to move and the region has some colder winters. So I just want to get the manifold heater working, just in case I need it.
Just have to figure out why:
fuel + spark = no flame...?
Nope, no mixed fuels. Just straight clean diesel since I got the truck, that's been about 1500 miles worth in about one years time. (would have been more, but it sat for 6-7 months while we did a lot of work, maintenance, and updates/upgrades). All filters have been changed as well.
The fuel...
Take our your plug and lay it up on your air filter housing. Then have someone flip the switch for you and see it you get a nice bright continuous spark. Also a good time to clean your plug, if it's needed.
I tested mine a week or so ago, and had a good strong spark.
After figuring out an...
