I know by posting I'm trying to revive an older thread. But I'm needing to install a muffler on our 68' A2 Deuce, and this M070028 sounds like its the way to go. I'll be honest, I don't care to much if it look perfectly stock or not, what I care most about is function. However, I do want it to...
Thanks Guys for all the help! We made it home late yesterday evening. Just kept it at 55-60mph according to the speedometer, which was showing as 50-55mph on the gps.
I would have posted something here a few days ago, but the internet at the hotels was a complete joke. I still have the hard...
Ok... So How many people here do 55mph in their M1008 CUCV 's and have not had any problems with over revving the engine?
The CUCV seems that it will do 55mph easy, but I just dont want to blow the engine or other. Also if I can do 55mph in the M1008, then I can keep up with my brother in the...
55mph is overreving??! I had two people tell me 60mph on highway.
Well the truck has the stock tire size, I don't know why it is registering 4mph faster on the speedometer than what it is actually traveling. When the speedo saids 59mph, it is actually traveling at 55mph. Anyway, guess I'll...
Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies! The trans was the original trans, just fully rebuilt. The fluid level was overfull, my fault got in to much of a hurry yesterday, especially when i didn't seen any fluid on the stick the first couple of checks when filling. Anyway, the guy I got it from told me...
I'll check this thread again before I leave here in a few minuets.
And if you reply, and I don't have time to log back in on this public hotel computer, Thanks in Advance!!!
Hey Everyone, I'm Short on time here.
I'm in AZ to pick up an M1008 with a TH400 Trans. It has been completely redone, and the trans and transfer case just totally rebuilt. I'm having a problem with hard shifts and they are delayed between shifts by 3-4 secs. |
I know these trucks may shift...
Hi jrodjared, maybe some of other more "deuce knowledgeable" guys will jump in here, but a thermostat in most cases, is mostly to keep the engine coolant at a specific range of temps, which gives the occupant heat in the winter.
However, it also keeps the engine at a level heated temperature...
Can't you just remove the thermostat, hook up your hoses and such back up, restart and see if it runs cool? If so, then you know it is the thermostat. If it still runs hot, then move to the next item.
Although from the "symptoms" you stated, it most likely is a stuck a thermostat.
Thanks for the comment Patriot! Yeah I went through the same thought process when I was trying to bid on a truck in sparta. Costs a few more $$'s to ship, but it is safer on a truck that you're not sure about.
Thankfully the two trucks that we're going to get are in great condition and should...
Thanks!
Thanks! We've been looking for a while now, and I agree, this is one of the best trucks I have seen in nearly a year's time that I have been searching. Would have liked to have had the M1008 and the deuce back a few months ago, but it's been worth waiting to find the right one's...
Yep it was fleaBay:
Chevrolet : Other Pickups Chevrolet : Other Pickups - eBay (item 260928294034 end time Jan-10-12 20:59:40 PST)
We're bringing the deuce back at the same time, so we'll probably be going 50 mph anyway.
Thanks Guys for Everything!! It was what we needed to know to finish making up our minds and go ahead and try to get the truck we had been thinking about.
We just bought a 68' deuce a few days ago, that is in New Mexico, which I have to go get next week. So since I was already going out that...
Yeah I did know about that. Might be a good idea to keep the parts on hand as a backup, just in case. But the glow plug controller isn't a big deal, like you said.
That might be have been what they were talking about.
Thanks Guys!
Hey Guys, Thanks Alot! That makes the CUCV move from being a "good truck" to being a Great Truck! Yes, i hate computers.... especially in vehicles.
I had been trying to find info, and was coming up empty, and didn't know for sure either way. I had read a few posts while searching, which stated...
Hi,
I'm new the M1008 trucks, know more about the Deuces.....
Anyway, I'm looking at getting an 1986 M1008, and I wanted to ask about the Computers. Searched for a while now, and from what I have read, it does have an ECM for the engine. However, I'm not certain (if stock) that it has a...
I like your seat idea  A 5 gallon bucket, duct tape, and some wire, and we can do about anything, right
Anyway, yeah it would be great if the cab was just made bigger. But I'm not going to modify it to that extent. I did have a thought about cutting and dropping the floor board, but...
Humm... That is an idea, but only if it becomes a must. I'd rather not have to go that far. But thanks for the tip though, might be something I may have to do if I cant get enough room otherwise.
