That was definately an upward trade for you, good show! Now you get to do all the work of checking her out & getting her up to shape. Enjoy & welcome back to the forum!
I've towed 3 M1102's home from Atlanta, Ga & FT Stewart in Georgia with a Toyota 4wd Tacoma with no problems. I did have a 5" riser on the factory hitch, but that was all. The rest of the posters have covered all the points except that the rear stablizer bars are steel & they will let a magnetic...
Its good to hear that they moved the trucks off base as the guards @ the gate 3 are really a pain to deal with. Too bad I have nowhere to drive one as I am only 15 miles away from the Lake Butler site where they are stored! Enjoy your new toys!
This is exactly how I drive my Deuce, never short running it for any reason, due to condensation in the system. I have a friend who is a mechanic who drives his Deuce to the coffee shop every (Saturday & Sunday) morning, which is a mile or two from his house. I've tried to explain what he is...
916 needs an EUC also now! If you get your transmission with a truck, no EUC; but if you buy a crated transmission, you have to have a EUC.............go figure that one out!
At work, we will buy cheap HF tools that will be destroyed in the process of the job. They get the work done & then trash them. Higher quality tools might last longer, but the stuff that is being worked on kills them shortly, chemical residue if you gather my drift!
Jack stands & hydraulic...
I won a trailer from GovPlanet & waited the 45 days for the EUC to clear. The trailer was picked up a few days after the EUC cleared & that was the day the ironclad guarantee expired; GovPlanet is a pain when it comes to dealing with them. I thought that the ironclad guarantee was for 30 day...
Re: Weights of items on GL
Funny thing (not really) happened on the way to work today. I went by the GL office (60 miles one way) to pick up 6 items that were listed @ 150# each, so a small single axle (50" x 96") trailer is what I took for the load out. When the items were being loaded, the...
It doesn't even look like canvas, but more like a heavy duty vinyl that can stand up to years in the sun & the winds @ 50 mph or more. The super rope goes bad first, long before the cover will give you any problems. I still have several tan complete spares in the back of my Deuce, just in case!
Are you tying it to the top bar or the bottom bar? It looks as if you strap it to the bottom bar, all will be taunt enough for it not to sag & collect water. Try doing the corners first to keep it square. At least you have one to work on..
I named my Deuce "Betsy" after a girlfriend I had back in the 70's who was from North Georgia. The truck came from WRAFB in Georgia & I drove it home from Blue Ridge, Georgia back in May of 2014! The next truck already has a name picked out for her & it will probably be a LMTV (M1078) if I get...
My brackets are original, so that is why side specific is not know to me,until now. I only replaced the original mirrors with MRAP mirrors from GL as the original were turning gray & falling apart!
My truck has the opposite problem, drivers mirror looks level in the sight picture, but is not level in the frame. Loosen up your frame & position it to where your mirror is perpendicular to the ground & the frame parallel with the trucks lines. It worked for me. The prior drivers probably ran...
These kinds of posts are like waving a bottle of good bourbon in front of an AA member who has been off the stuff for a long while. Thanks for the posts & the pictures of your truck. The green iron disease is strong with this one on me, but finding the truck as good as yours has been the...
The trailer I recovered last week, even though it was @ another location 35 miles away from where it was listed, took about 15 minutes on the phone & a few extra minutes to locate where it actually was. Customer service was good as expected for the second Gov Planet purchase......I may be an...
