mine is the same way its gross and faded and covered with grime. i just put a 10 dollar steering wheel cover on it and its all better. I still want to get a new one some day i just agree with you about spending 270 bucks for a new ones.
A Semi floater 14Bolt is a good axle it gets a bad rap because its brother the 14ff is king in off road world. Fourwheeler just did a rebuild on the axle. it will hold up to 37's i ran them on my suburban with a 14SF. If your not going loco with big tires a 14SF will be fine. As for the front...
i would just run a longer brake lines all the way around ( xrp makes them ) on the rear perportion valve just detach the bracket and turn the knob till it stops in a up posotion and leave it. i just cut the backet off the 14bolt.
I flexed my truck a lot this weekend wheeling and im happy i went with 5 inch ( or so ) lift. dont forget the k30 frame is 8 inches in height and the blazer is only 6. so even though they might have the same lift the truck will look taller.
just recenter your h1's its not very much $$$ return the spacers and buy the centers and cut the of ones out and weld the new ones in and poof correct back spacing.
