That single plug you are holding is for the rear heater on the M1010. It goes to a fuel pump that is mounted on the left inner fender. I also think it is used in the cargo diesel fired heater. The fast idle is a quick easy fix. Just replace it. Good Luck.

Did you elevate the front end and bleed all the air out of the system? And dumb as it may be does it steer manually? I want to rule out a locked up outer front axle U joint.

I determined the glow plugs were working thru observing the volt meter. When it clicked in the meter dropped and when it clicked out the meter rose. But I always like an eyeball of glow plugs so I removed them. That also helps see if fuel is being sent to the delivery nozzles from the injection...

There is also a ground on the under hood engine harness that could be checked. Over to the left of the vacuum pump is a ground wire that gets connected to the second intake manifold stud. Check that. Good Luck.
