I have been running a homebrewed WMO blend in my M1028 and have been refueling from the NATO fuel cans that I've stored my product in. In looking for a good funnel I discovered that 2 inch PVC pipe fits the CUCV filler neck nicely and was very stable. Using a 60 degree elbow, a neoprene 2-4"...
Great story. Made my wife cry. In the 90's when it was 50 years my father told me some of his story.
One of my favorites though, is one that my uncle told me.
Like most WWII veterans, all my father wanted to do was come home and build something better. He was a underground construction...
Testing the circuit is simple. The sending unit resistance is 0 ohms empty and 90 ohms full.
Disconnect the sending unit. Expected result with key on is gauge reads past full.
Probe circuit (gauge side) with a normal automotive test light. Expected result with key on is a light that is...
I bought a 20 dollar harbor freight receiver and drilled and bolted it to the bumper using the two existing verticle bolts for the pintle and plates to sandwich the existing bumper. 6 bolts total. cheap and easy.

during the '80s all 10-30 Series Trucks had a portion of the vehicle identification number near the engine...
Inspect it and as long as its not kinked the speedo cable can be lubricated to solve speado bounce.
Pull the cluster. Using needle nose pliers pull the cable out of its casing (it only comes out from the top). Clean with brake clean and clean shop towel. Lubricate the cable by wiping on a...
Actualy they were used in the Dhofar region of Oman in the '60s. I was told that it works ok at twilight and dusk. In daylight it depends on the sand color. It's amazing how many colors of sand there are. Overall no more effective than sand tan though.
Along with the above I learned that the...
I wanted to give a heads up on a relay P/N I used on my M1028. I used Borg Warner GPR7 Glow Plug Relay for both the glow plug and 12/24 start relays. This was a cross reference from the Napa GPR109. Heavy relay and made in the USA. Cost $30.
For the GPs it bolted right up to existing holes...
Cool truck, Good Luck! The I don't think as many of these were sold in the US as GM exported. In 1993-4 I worked on some 1994 MY trucks that were being upfit by US Trailer inc into an M1031 configuration prior to export to Saudi. These trucks were 350 open loop TBI leaded fuel. I remember...
I looked at the schematic and it shows a radio suppressor between the 24v and ground busses in the starter schematic. A failed suppressor may contribute to relay contact arcing.
A difference in the regulator set points between the two regulators?
Assuming both generators are isolated ground have you swapped them? DVOM & tach readings? Voltage drop test done between generators and corresponding batteries?
I still believe the OP describes an abnormal condition. The modification suggested will likely solve the problem but only a qualified diagnoses can determine that.
Myself I'm going to use the same relay that I retrofit in for the glow plugs on my M1028. I still haven't decided what part #...
I agree that you may simply want to retrofit a 'heavier' duty relay or a relay that has built in contact protection.
Assuming three starts a day and six month life span those relays are only living less than 600 cycles. You have a problem and it's not the relay.
First question is whether...
Glad to help. Its best when you get to make informed decisions.:-D
I've just gotten an M1028 and still waiting on an SF97. Working on a two tank heated waste oil fuel system.
The small tires less braking traction so It seems you want the valve. I can't picture your bracket mod. It seems to me that changing brackets may change the valves rate and that simply extending the link so the valve arm is at the correct position for no load curb height would be the better mod...
You may choose to remove it on a lifted M1008. Keep in mind that the function of the valve is to reduce rear brake force by metering fluid pressure made by the master cylinder. The intent is to prevent rear brake lockup. Llfts and oversized tires tend to increase suspention travel and increase...
Thanks Recovry4x4. I'll try to contribute.
Hey Sarge, what did you find?
Below is for army98. The specific recommendation for the Shell grease does not have to be followed as long as you use a high quality grease formulated for brake caliper slides.
