Congrats on the purchase. Kinda neat to see where the truck goes as part of me goes with it. The bed was once mine! Anyways, check the deuce forum for the stickies for doing a recovery. Lots to learn there for sure. There is even a list of essential tools you will need. Most of all, have...
Take some time and check the line from the primary to the secondary fuel filter. The line crosses under the front engine crossmember and sometimes gets crushed.
While I don't necessarily agree on changing the weight distribution, I'm not a technician or salesperson in that field. My common sense physics approach doesn't see it but I can be taught. I think the cast u-bolt saddles are an excellent option for those not wishing to change the geometry of...
"If you have a 1-ton GM truck with the 1-ton axle, you will need to have a lift that moves the springs down from the frame to create clearance for the ubolt plate. Examples of these lift types would be a shackle flip kit or a new deeper arch spring. A stock spring on a stock truck will have to...
I have found that even a half full saddle tank can be easily lowered and raised into place with a less expensive trans jack for those who have one in their arsenal of tools.
80,000 CUCVs with a savings of 1' of wire each means they saved 14.87 miles (yes, miles) of cable. I've never priced cable by the mile but would imagine its costly.

Might have been a 3rd world country where you make do with nothing, often fatally. You should see the conditions that the shipbreakers work under in Bangladesh. Horrifying. Thank God forn ROPS.
I think it would be fine for moderate use. If you plan on loading it up pretty heavy then going off road then reconsider. The trailer is rated at 1500#. Guessing the box comes in at 600# or so.
Is there a possibility that the 79 was a cab/chassis truck? The have a longer wheel base and use the carrier bearing. You should be fine without it on a pickup.
Death wobble was a huge issue for mine. Even with the sprung steering stabilizer it was hard to control. When the block was abandoned, the death wobble left with it.
I bought my flywheel and such through Rock Auto. Been well over a year and still haven't done the swap. I will look for an invoice but don't hold your breath. Also, you will need to clearance your bellhousing to clear the 6.2 starter.
