It's still working fine, but I only did what I did because I screwed up and ordered the wrong regulator. And I had access to a machine shop owned by a machinist nice enough to chuck it up in his big lathe chuck and turn it down for me for free.
Just go with a modern Delco 24V alternator. The...
I just flushed and refilled the radiator on my CUCV.
So no jinxies, right?
No air conditioning, but at highway speed and being toward the end of october, I don't think we're going to overheat ourselves, either.
Don't be in a hurry to buy anything.
I watched GSA state auctions for years, literally, until I finally found a decent looking one that didn't go for a ridiculous price.
Bummer. But yeah, on the way to or from Big Bend would have sucked.
Question... what size tow shackle feet/pins does the LMTV use? I've got the large tow bar and feet for it that have two sets of pin holes offset from eachother. 1 for towing deuces/5 tons and the other for towing cucvs.
One thing to consider, the weather can be pretty variable in the park depending on elevation. Average temperature high for Big Bend I saw was about 80 for the month of October so I'd plan for 50s for the lows and upper 70s for the highs. In other words, very pleasant. Bring a jacket and a...
Nice. We're in the dog days of summer, so I'd say if you can honestly call it "Comfortable" while fighting against 100 plus degrees outside and the engine heat directly below the cab, then you're doing great.
Sweet. Can't wait to feel the cold air machine in action.
Slightly off-topic: Maybe start thinking about where we can pull VSS from for an electronic cruise control. Last resort is the magnets, but I'm wondering if the LMTV is new enough that it would have an ECU that you could pull a...
Will it fill the air tanks to hook up his shop air compressor to the truck's service gladhand?
Mark doesn't have a ton of agility and I don't want him breaking his head open trying to start the truck with the cab up
They're not a good investment, is the short (but correct) answer.
The longer answer is, they can be a good buy to make money with IF you buy them cheap enough and IF you actively resell them for a profit. And in a timely fashion. Which would make them less of an investment and more of a...
Wouldn't worry about it too much, yet. My 923a2 was missing an alternator entirely. Ran and drove fine, once it had the belt and alternator and fluids.
Chatted with them on the phone several times.
Was told each time that the person who handles EUC stuff was away from their desk.
I sent in the EUC at about 1 pm the afternoon after I won the lot. Called immediately after sending it in. Then got an automated "Hey, you still haven't sent in...
