And right away, some bonehead wants to put the cab on a one ton chassis... Maybe he'll put blazer axles under it too! Too far away for me, somebody please save it!!!!!
(Sorry if I offended anyone, but I'm gettin sick of these old warhorses gettin cut up for projects that won't be finished...
Don't want to get off topic here, but I couldn't figure out what truck you guys were talking about with the blazer axles, then I found it. Good lord, and the guy says it was done for fuel economy? Some peoples kids..... :cookoo:
$1280 isn't bad at all! That truck looks to be in really good shape, way too good to be cut up for its axles! :cookoo: Good luck and post some pics after you get it.
Hey there Chechaco,
Welcome and definately get your husband to join! Tell him not to worry about computer skills, I'm barely housebroken and I still get by here. About the truck, it all depends what his definition of "restore" is. It'll make a really cool bobbed 4x4 but it's missing a lot of...
There's one driveshaft from the t-case to each rear axle. You wouldn't have to pull the shaft from the pillowblock on top of the front rear axle to the rear. Take off the two on the rear of the t-case and the one on the front or the front flanges and you're good to go. I pulled one of my trucks...
Hi Amy, welcome aboard!
My sister and her family have lived in the Ann Arbor, Chelsie, Dexter area for years and I've lived within 10 miles of Madison,Wis. all my life and university towns seem to be the same. If you show interest in any kind of military vehicle, you must belong to a militia of...
I'd kinda hate to see a another complete deuce cut up for parts when there's so many parts units around. Radiators can be found but 51 year old trucks are getting harder to find every day. I know ya can't save em all, but that's that's the way an old fart see's it.
Like rmgill said, they're a recognition symbol for ground vehicles by aircraft. It was used in wwII in the european theater of operations, and from what I hear, came about as a combination of the U.S. star and the British roundel to make a distinctive identification after some British and...
Hey Westfolk,
What's the tracked thing in front of the dozer in the last picture? Looks like the lower half of a Bombardier muskeg tractor. I used to work on them years ago. Kinda fun to play with, but expensive to maintain.
Cargo covers with bows seem to run about $500 for canvas. This may or may not include end curtains, depending on seller. I'm not sure about the price of vinyl, but it seems to be cheaper. If you don't mind a small roadtrip, there's a guy in Wyocena, Wis. that has a few trucks he's parting out...

Just my two cents worth, but keep in mind ebay has always been "Let the buyer beware"! Tom at Alfa and other dealers like him have a word of mouth reputation to think of. They take the time to drain and replace fluids and replace any questionable parts as necessary. They can't give you a...
Yup, looks just like the one I've always wanted, (I can always repaint it!) but doesn't he have the decimal point in the wrong place in the "buy it now" price?
Check with any paint supplier that custom mixes colors and ask for lusterless chrome yellow. We used to paint railroad maintenance equipment gloss chrome yellow. I think our supplier was a PPG dealer but it's been a while.
