There's a TM 9-8024 technical manual on ebay with three days left at $15.00. Lots of good information, charts, diagrams, pics etc.
The hydramatic trans has a water jacket and uses engine coolant to control temp.
The '61 10 ton tilt deck is an old cat trailer. Used one just like it many years ago, good old solid hauler with solid walking beam suspension (no springs) but it's only 16' long. Hard to get enough weight on the hitch to keep the trailer from whipping. Also, unless you grew up on a farm backing...
Jeeez, if it ain't green, everybody has a fit. I think it looks a hell of a lot better this way than hacked up and sitting in a scrapyard. Actually, I think it looks pretty good for an old war horse.
Hey there grizzly, good to have you here. Sorry i didn't see your post sooner, but better late than never. Your truck is the M135/211 series of gmc trucks. Manufacture of the CCKW series was discontinued in '45 I believe. Your truck is a later series that was gmc's answer to the M35. It...
Hard to put a price on it, but if the body is fairly straight and rust free, and you don't mind the add on rear winch, I'd say around $1000 would be top dollar. I was at an auction that had 30 to 40 of these trucks. They had been used on a large potato farm, were in rough shape, but all ran. The...
The best thing to do is get a manual. M135/211 manuals turn up on epay once in a while, but some clown always drives the price thru the roof. Portrayal Press has all the manuals for these trucks and they're either new originals or good reprints so you don't have to worry about missing pages or...
Don't mean to rain on your parade, but what makes this non running M135 worth more than all the other non running M135/211 trucks that sell for one to five hundred? Hope you get your price, but for 1600 bucks I would hope to be driving it home. No offense, just think you're a little high.
The few that I've done, I left the steering column on the truck and lifted the cab back and up to clear. If it aint broke, leave it alone, don't fix it 'till it is!
I've only missed one year out of the last seven, and I'm planning on being there this year, maybe with the M1008. I'd really like to bring the 5 ton, but don't know if I'll get the transfer case changed out in time.
It's always been a good show, but not quite the same since Chet Krause [ the...
Gotta agree with Ambulancechaser on this one, surge brakes are a good theory, but they suck in use! I don't know about other states, but they've been outlawed on any trailer in commercial use in Wis. for about 5 years now. I gotta believe private use will be next. Anyone ever converted a...
Don't think there are any. Thes trucks were surplused out about 35 years ago. Most of the pdf manuals are for more current equipment. The only thing I know of is the reprints from Portrayal Press or try your luck on ebay. I need to get some myself!
Memphis Equip. used to sell rebuilds, but I think I heard they discontinued that model truck. The only other place I know of, as Derby said, is Alfa Heaven. They have a website, just make sure you spell alfa with an "f".
We had an M211 at our local fire dept. that we'd installed a used fuel delivery truck tank on. Scaled out around 28,000 full of water! No wonder it had a hard time on hills.
Just a little trimming of the fender bottom edges should do it. Nothing that's really visible from the outside. I run 36" on my M1008 with no lift, no problems and no overdrive.
Good lord man, there's gotta be some kinda law against even thinking about replacing an awesome Mack engine with a multifuel. As for being any good, just ask anyone who drove them in the Viet Nam era. More power, higher torque, and longer lasting besides. The A1 series still bring better prices...
