What does the M37 bed weigh?

I've been rebuilding & driving M37's longer than most of the guys on the forum. The bed is the least lethal thing om the truck. Well, maybe more than the seat covers... Anyways, please don't confuse OCD with stupid. Knowingly setting up something that will hurt you is the latter.

    353 Rebuild

The simplicity of the GM 2-stroke system sold me on them years ago. Power-to-weight ruled until electronically controlled Diesels came about. You do know they were designed to just make noise? That the smaller the engine (the 2-53N), the more noise it made? Then someone figured out there...

Life is pretty short, ya know...

What does the M37 bed weigh?

It weighs 4 guys. Just that. Not even 500 lbs., if you're talking a bare bed: no tailgate or side racks.

    353 Rebuild

My experience is the airbox drains piss oil as designed. The other place was the rear accessory drive plates on the timing cover. No matter how many times I changed the gaskets & sealer, oil still weeped out.

    Battery replacement

One tends to touch metal with tools when doing battery service only once; It leaves a lasting impression!

    Battery replacement

Ground Negative first off, last on. The rest don't really matter, just be careful not short a battery with a tool.

    Zerk Fitting Size?

All Zerks I've ever seen use the same size grease gun. Their sizes listed refer to the pipe size they screw into.

How to create a ground plane

    Sounds like a plan.

How to create a ground plane

Yes, I used a silver-bearing paint to do an economical Faraday shield at a high power broadcast facility. They normally sell it for use in turning blow-molded plastic into silver coated resonant chambers for microwave amplifiers. It resulted in transforming a concrete block wall into metal...

    G749 preservation

I have that same 'light' towbar. Much easier to wrangle than the later issue. I've never seen another one till now. DG

    M813A1 transmission.

That Spicer was supposedly the largest 5-speed synchromesh trans produced.

    Agree-disagree. I've measured RPM in & out.

    REO to LDS Transplant

    Nope, the 3053 has a .85:1 OD. So I was off a %.

    Our 1942 Chevrolet G506

Yep, the bed is probably worth more than the rest of the truck. Just hope it doesn't show up on a bobbed 5-ton...

    M813A1 transmission.

The sintered metal (Velvetouch) puck clutch is a better choice than the organic disk. That is what I've found almost every 5-ton military rebuild.
