Mine is still rattling pretty good but now I do hear an air leak I believe behind the cab somewhere. Can I pressurize the system with shop air to hunt the leak?.
Anyone have a Deuce with MRAPs and 385"s and some pictures they could share of this setup. Did the rear hubs/wheels have to be reversed to mount the MRAPS?.Thinking about buying some soon. Thanks.
Exactly what I had in mind Gunfreak although I put reinforcement steel along the top and sides and boxed it in at the top, it will hold more weight than I will ever put on it. I will get a couple of these 3/4 spring latches and put on the inside to make it one piece if I need to.This gives the...
I even made it simpler.....works great as a two piece tailgate.....nice and easy....3hrs and little steel. I ordered some 11/16 od x 1/2 id bronze bushings for the tailgate hinges, we'll se if I can remove some of the slop in the pins.
I like it.
I have seen springs listed at 90 to 180 degrees of travel/tension?. More info here Torsion Springs - Leg Configurations and

Ramblin is ready....thanks
I have not one but both shoulders destroyed from working on vehicles over the years so the Deuce tailgate is very painful for me to use.But I will not give up my big trucks so one of these ideas will be adopted. So no one likes my torsion spring idea?.
Then there is this kind Gorilla-Lift, Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist
180 degree rotation would let you use any ladders/steps you may have attached to the inner side of the tailgate. That would be preferred.
I have thought about both hydraulics and linear actuators, actually at first, but I keep going back to some kind of torsion spring setup like on an enclosed trailer. Use the hinge pins to hold one spring on each side.
Yeah,..trying to avoid a hernia. I have thought about retractable cable setup or a small electric winch...who makes very small electric winches?.do you have a link to picture?.
I have done my hood strut mod and they work great now I was wondering if anyone has put spring assist on the tailgate?. Maybe a couple torsion springs like on trailer ramps but smaller. The only thing that might cause a problem is the tailgate opening 180 degrees.
