Yes the Govt. will come and get what they want, and there isn't much you can do about it. But regardless of what the fine print says, it doesn't make it morally right. If you buy a house, live there for years, make it your home and invest your life and savings into it, you pretty much think its...
The Kentucky boys might know about cool weather, like a nice balmy 20 degrees  but I see you are in Idaho. For the really cold weather, like way below zero, there is nothing like a stick-on mat oil pan heater. Get the biggest you can- in fact, I've seen one that has 2 mats, which would be...
:ditto: If you are using a gasket (many newer engines don't even use gaskets, just RTV) and the surfaces are clean, at most just a very thin film of RTV on the surfaces and a small dab in corners is plenty.
Jim
Well, I guess I could *settle* for one of those. Well, maybe 2...maybe make 1 an ultimate RV....hmmm....Course the wife would need one, so make it 3.
Oh yea...Just to make sure, you're giving them to me out of the kindness of your heart? Whatta guy. I 'preciate it! (Uncle Sam wouldn't...
I was also going to suggest just swapping around outer axle parts to get the 8-bolt pattern. Those same axles have been used in many other trucks- try looking for an old late 60's/early 70's International pickup. I had one as a part's truck that used the same axles as an M715- front Dana 60...
Well as much as a part of me keeps thinking this is one truck, nothing to get excited about (obviously is for the owner, but I mean big picture), I can't help putting the other pieces together: all the trucks getting pulled from the current auctions, many of us having EUCs stuck at BC for an...
Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but could this have anything to do with why my Deuce EUC is taking so long? Is there a chance they could end up canceling many of the pending EUCs if they found a better place for the trucks to go?
Jim
This is my first Deuce, the one in my avatar are my father's. I just drove it home from PA. But I've done 4 EUCs before this, all went far quicker...even the first one.
Jim
I'll be near (or at) Ft. Knox, near Louisville. I have someone who should be able to the the initial recovery from the base, and I will be driving it home from Louisville.
I have all the time in the world, currently unemployed, so if there is something I have to go out of my way for...and I...
Submission of EUC Pending: 08/27/2009
EUC revisions requested from Customer: 09/09/2009 (Notified me of needing export letter)
EUC sent to Battle Creek: 09/14/2009
Problem Report Resolution Returned to Battle Creek: 10/01/2009...
Why do you need an EUC for a lawn tractor, push mower, lot of bicycles, or a motorcycle? I think most of the people in charge of classifying this stuff have no idea what they are doing.
Jim
I can see there being some form of check, but there has to be a more streamlined way than the current EUC process. Why not a check like there is for gun purchases? They can get information in 1 minute, not 2-3 months. I could see there being maybe a 7 day turn around on the paperwork.
I also...
Aaaaahhhh, another Kelly's Heros fan!
I'm a ways from where this is happening, I don't have any MV or heavy equipment home yet, but I'm good with a wrench and would be happy to lend a hand if there is anything I can do to help.
I guess in other words, I'm useless but willing to put my...
Yea, I'm with you there. But remember that like everything else, rust is relative. Down south, a vehicle is rusted out beyond repair if you can drop a peanut through a hole. Up here, a vehicle is considered very repairable if it only has a few holes you can drop softballs through.
I know where...
I'm going to be driving a Deuce from Louisville to N.H., and would be willing to haul and/or tow something along the way. Rough schedule, I hope to be doing this the weekend of the 24/25, depending on receiving my paperwork by then.
Route will be North on 71, to 271 in Ohio, to 90 East to...
If you can get them to Louisville, I hope to be driving a Deuce back aprox. the weekend of the 24/25th. I'll be heading up through Ohio, western PA, then east along 90 to Albany. I could drop the at my father's, Beaubeau on here, in Salisbury, NH.
I'm actually going to be posting a message on...
I think a flapper on top would be the simplest solution, but I would combine it with drilling a hole at the lowest spot. But from looking at the pics, the exhaust is the least of your problems. In Pic #3, it looks like there is zero room for suspension movement. Once the tire contacts the...
The one thing I worry about is the day they decide its easier to just cut it all up into scrap than to have GL auction it off. For most of this stuff, they have to be losing money with the auction process. Think about a Deuce: Take it out of (possibly) active service, have it transported back to...
