I don't want to discourage further replies but I wanted to acknowledge that this is all extremely sensible and helpful. The wheel does free spin nicely; a seal was replaced w/ the cylinder. 50 mph is the exceptional downhill for me. 40 - 45 is the norm. 55 for me is 6 years ago:wink:.
I'll...
I'd appreciate any comments on the theory above and the test I ran below.
I took the truck on an 80 mile r/t run last Saturday and noted that the right rear tandem was much hotter than any other wheel. After about 20 - 25 secs, you wanted to take your hand off.
This was the 1st real run since...

While on the topic of cooking, I'll have one of these, unopened: NSN 7360 – 271 – 1661 "Cooking Outfit' 125 lbs; 4.2 cu ft
Anybody know what's in it? I haven't been able to find an inventory or packing list even though I found the NSN in the Quartermaster's TM.
Update: It appears to be a...
Ain't it a hoot to be driving along and look down and see 15lb of air and wonder where the alarm buzzer is?
This is a good link with DYI parts with sizes:

I replaced the manifold -> air pressure...
"... I used Randolf 24087 as sold by Peter DeBella Jeep Parts. The Randolph 24087 is the old FS number and according to Randolph that same color formula is also listed as 24084 which is the modern closest reference to the 24087 used in Vietnam..." WarrenD
I don't wanna hijack the topic of...
About the 70 rattle cans - What brand and what number did you use? Always wondering about that stuff when I'm looking at photos on a computer.
Thanks.
Steve
Here is a very nice blue one in a couple shots, one w/ a green next to it. There are some other photos in the slide show w/ clicks back 'n forth. Might be worth considering.

What Chris didn't say was that those first 2 photos were taken while we hung out with coffee and donuts at his place before going to the parade. Very generous and very much appreciated.

All Dressed Up, No Place to Go
We really were thinking of driving up to Newton to see if we could tag along with you guys, then go over to the house in Wantage. Instead, we spent the day taking care of some details to get ready for the parade today - until I got a calll last night that said it...
I sorta agree with WarrenD. I wuz thinkin' that after all the filming for Goodfellas and The Sopranos around here in the past couple years, the Asplundh is sorta over done.
Would the Committee consider giving the weather gods a cash offering? We could put a dunking station over the livestock...
"...I don't rightly recall a volcano on the property. ..." WarrenD
Well, it isn't exactly on the property. It's down the road a bit.
"...The old "Beemerville Volcano" in the rural Sussex County township of Wantage now has a house on top. ..." New Jersey running out of Open Space - Page 3...
Well, we had a nice day so after putting together new flag poles from rigid conduit and new bumper mounts, I moved on to this.
This isn't sanded out or prepped yet. Bumper bolts are 5/8" (washers tomorrow), pintel bolts are 1/2", both are carriage bolts. I couldn't find the bolt lengths I...
"... I have the BM paint code from Steve Kuhns trailer. I would like to know how the final look came out..."
There are some photos back a bit but here's one we took last Sunday after building ramps for Art's Mule. The color looks a bit dark on the site. Much more 24087 in person.
It'll...
I've had very good luck at the Newton office, one w/ an A2 w/ 4 digits. Not every location is fluent in this stuff.
They usually pad the 4 digit VIN w/ year and such to make their own, esp if a duplicate record exists. For example, my 1990 Kasel 101A2 VIN 3304 became KAS330490.
