CUCV meltdown- Learning the hard way

Did you swap Gen 1 with Gen 2 and see if the Gen 1 light comes on? If not I think your Gen 2 is bad. I am glad the light is working. Good Luck. These generators are NOT expensive to have overhauled at a competent electrical shop.

    Injector hard lines

http://www.duramaxhub.com/62-diesel.html Thanks for the information, afraid to brake them loose. I will just keep looking, Thanks. By all means break them lines loose. I promise there is nothing to fear. I have had no fewer then 150 CUCV's and worked on many more. I bought them with bent...

    Injector hard lines

WOW no reply. HA HA. That is one process I would love to see. Did you ever see how thick the lines are and see a cross cut section. If I were an ambitious guy I would split one just to marvel at the glass lined injection lines. Reminds me of the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe. Where they make...

    Injector hard lines

I must have compromised several hundred interior coatings. I replaced many valve covers and gaskets with the intake in place. I would know of no way that a coating could be applied inside the lines. Not say they didn't do that but I see no need for it. And as long as they are not rusty used ones...

    Injector hard lines

I use Felpro J code 6.2 diesel. Make sure to have the heads gone over by a competent automotive machine shop and replace all the head bolts. Will used injection lines be good enough?

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

Yes nothing like a visit to the salvage yard. I am fortunate to have a good friend that owns one. I was off work on Friday and decided I would help out while the crusher was running at the yard. The old Chevy truck was due to be recycled. Shame it had the factory bucket seats and console. I...

    TH400 Transmission Shifts points

A quick test. Remove the vacuum hose from the top of the vacuum pump at the rear of the engine. Start the engine at idle. You should hear a chirping sound. Carefully get a step and put your finger over the hole on the vacuum pump while the engine is idling. It should suck fast gently. If no...

Engine Mounts - Poly or Rubber?

The truth be told the correct Energy Suspension motor mount inserts for all GM CUCV's are for a 1983 350 gas motor on the pick up and K5. 3.116G is the Energy Suspension part number. OK that this as a word of advise. If you needed to bend the fitting on the fuel pump to get the hose on. That...

m1008 Glow plug controller connector repair parts... Help

That box that the circuit board plugs into is an entire little separate harness of it's own. Do you need that harness? Not new but definitely useable.

m1008 Glow plug controller connector repair parts... Help

Which sensor? And how about some pictures. I have a few scrap CUCV's and CUCV wiring harnesses. Maybe I can cut you a section that you can splice in to correct your issues. Just a thought. Good Luck. Be Safe and let me know.

    Lift Pump Lever Force

CUCV fuel pump does NOT have the vent. I am sure it would work if you need it. Put a cap plug on the vent. HMMWV has a similar pump. Good Luck. If it were me I would get the correct pump. And it was made in China. Hopefully Mainland. Be Safe.

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

Cleaning up the scrap. A few CUCV's were harmed during the making of the work week. All is well they were beyond the useable date and condition.

    Lift Pump Lever Force

I think the vent is on the back side and they don't show that side. All is well. They work so they must have vents. The vents are the weep hole to tell when the pump diaphragm is failing.

    Lift Pump Lever Force

Cup the pump in one hand and depress the lever with the palm of the other hand. The lever will create a suction immediately upon depression. The wrong pump will have a bit of free play. If yours is tight immediately I would say all is well. Internal spring on top of lever and you are golden. I...

    Lift Pump Lever Force

OK> This is tricky. The pumping action should take place on the slightest depression of the lever. The lever only has a 1/2" to 3/4" working action at the end. If you must depress it farther to get suction it is the wrong pump. Post a picture...

Engine Mounts - Poly or Rubber?

Very easy to install. Just drill the rivets out and use short 5/16" and tack weld the clam shell or grind the bolts flush. Your choice. They give you wire ties. I discard them. But wire ties would work after they are tight in place.

Engine Mounts - Poly or Rubber?

You ask. May I give my highest recommendations to the Energy Suspension. I had a new rubber set fail in 1 weekend at Rausch Creek. The engine sat down on the fuel line inlet of the fuel pump and cut the hose. Was hard to figure out what was going on. I changed the hose and it happened the next...

    Not charging left battery?

Easiest is from the back side. I do it from front side if I don't want to get involved in removing a fragile cluster. And if I am just changing bulbs to LED I do it from the front. But to do the entire cluster and clean everything you should remove the entire cluster assembly. Disconnect the...
