    XM818 of Death has died

I did chew the driver out- but I'm not going to charge him for any parts. As was said, I chose to drive it home without fully diagnosing it first. I did the simple thing first- I replaced the thermostat. It became obvious that was not the problem, only AFTER I got off the interstate. I was on...

    XM818 of Death has died

I know Bubba, it doesn't make much sense. But the temp gauge doesn't seem to be working right at all, so I'm not trusting it and will be changing the sensor and possibly the gauge. The TM says that's the first thing to check, water pump flow. Next is to do a pressure test of the cooling...

    XM818 of Death has died

I know, keeping my fingers crossed it is a 'simple' fix. I suppose I could have a blown head gasket too.

    XM818 of Death has died

Not for good I hope. Yesterday, my driver was returning from Charleston, SC to Winnsboro, SC (approx 120miles) with the empty M967 tanker. At mile post 176, he noticed the oil pressure had dropped a little from its normal running warm place (around 60psi) and the temp had gone up. He also...

    truck went into lake

If your a diesel mechanic, FIX IT. If you got water into the engine, and enough got on top of a piston to bend a rod, one rod and one piston is WAY easier and cheaper than a motor swap... I don't think it would be worth it to swap the motor, unless you just have to have more power.

    New Wolverine Tech Centrifuge

It probably failed because you don't get enough flow through it when going into a cecentrifuge.

    M109 maximum angle?

I know I've had mine at some crazy angles. My old destroyer, the superstructure was designed to shear off at 45 degrees. Us engineers knew we could run the ship, and there were days we tried to get to 45 degrees... I have the clinometer that was mounted in Central Control, and it has a tick...

    5 ton truck question.

Jpwilson, In SC you get a yearly overwidth permit for $100. So that's not TOO bad. But for your first MV and all, I would pass on a 10 ton. Just too big, slow, and expensive to operate.

    Flat tires on M35A3

Only if the CTIS is working I picked up a A3 for Headwizard (still have it) and the tires had to be filled manually- and 4 of them would go flat in 2-6hrs. The other two have stayed up for months.

    M146 RV Conversion

I sold my m146, a month before I bought my xm818. aua I really wanted to do the same thing to mine, but really needed the cash at the time, and I didn't have a tractor... Maybe one day I'll get another. Great looking trailer, can't wait to see it finished!

    Steering wheel replacement?

You can lower the pedals down fairly easily, that's what I did. grind a groove in the pedal shaft, loosen the set screw, and lower it to the new groove, and retighten. I had the same problem with my legs until I did that.

I know several people who would like to get ahold of it! If you want to buy it, I will drive up and help you look it over, and help you get it home.

Fuel leaking on turbo from ?

I had the same problem. I took the return line loose at the injector common return line, and took the supply line loose at the heater, and looped it back and hooked it up to the common return line. I see no loss in power, and in fact, my fuel heats up way faster this way. I will fix it...

    Working on the MKT

Looks really good! I would just swap the whole fram if you can find a decent one for cheap. Much easier. Man, all this MKT posting is making me crazy! I want to start cleaning and fixing up my MKT-75 so bad. But with no money and my wife running taskmaster over me, I can't do it until other...
