The Old Days
You guys are jogging my memory. When I was a young man in high school I went to VOC-TECH as a mechanic and also took advanced classes like advanced math and honors English. Not a very common occurrence. I wanted to be an engineer, but paying for it was impossible. I took a job...
Many great posts on this thread, thanks everyone! Especially Ryan123! I had no idea the fuel consumption was as low as it is for those old two strokes! They sound awesome too! It makes me want two trucks so I could try one of these engines with a transmission with more gears.
Follow the steps
You're making this problem more than it is. The fuel feed is mostly serial, it goes 1 - 2 - 3, etc. Start from the start and don't jump ahead with assumptions and fears. If you don't have fuel pressure at point #2 there's no point in worrying about #3 or #4.
If you get fuel...
Nice thread. My batteries are ~6-7 years old and don't have enough to turn the engine over in the cold now. So, I'm looking for a setup and appreciate the help from folks here. There's a case for having 3 batteries with 2 in the stock system and 1 charged by a Delcotron (my dad worked for...
You're welcome peashooer! The only thing I have against the smaller Donaldson is a concern about how restrictive it is. Can anyone speak to the design details of the short Donaldson? Does it have an obstruction inline or is it really a straight-thru perforated tube (is what they publish...
Thanks for the info! I recall looking into this, er, maybe four years ago and don't recall ever seeing that. These numbers suggest the stock LDT-465 in the truck is getting about 68% of the power to the wheels while loosing about 32% to parasitic losses. That's inline with what I would...
Exactly correct! I saw this on YouTube long ago and asked if they would post the info, but no response. Too bad... Would have been a nice thing to share.
weldigger has this right. The issue bugwhacker brigs up is not an issue. This was a part of the design concept from the beginning, e.g. the M34 and M35A3. Both bearings have the proper contact in either flipped position.
If it is an air-lock diff, you engage it and disengage it with air pressure. The setup includes a sliding sleeve inside the differential that is moved by an air cylinder. You could hook this air cylinder to the existing air value in the cab, that way you would connect the front diff to the...
I think you may be referring to the LDS-465-2. I'm not aware of an LDT-2 or LDS-2. When questions like this come up I always check the following:

Thanks for the info and good pics! I always use the little ferrules with the plastic tubing and compression fittings. It reinforces the inner diameter of the tubing and prevents it from being crushed. I'm also careful about not overtightening the compression fittings.
You should have a bleeder valve on the secondary filter housing. The steps in checking fuel should go something like 1) primary filter (you've done this), 2) secondary filters, and 3) injectors. Have you done 2 and 3? If so what did you find?
