I think Lt Dan and I have similar results. It looks like maybe your IP was tweaked up a bit prior to bypassing the FDC so it naturally may have responded a bit more with excess fuel. Can you make a video of you driving that shows the exhaust?
The general rule with bypassing the FDC says you...
welldigger do you have a sound file of your truck? I got the 3535XL (long version) yesterday and plan to mount it soon. Can't wait!
Rmtaunton or others, can you share a sound file or make a youtube video of your new muffler sound?
You bring up some interesting points!
This engine (and the turbos) were designed and manufactured long before variable turbo technology became available. My understanding is that the turbos for both LDT and LDS engines were a mix of 3 and 4 inch (the 3's are really just a bit smaller than the...
Sorry to hear you had trouble. I'm planning to rebuild mine next week also. Was it the short or long version?
You could share the pics using a dropbox folder. PM me if you'd like the details on how to do it. If you don't already have online backup of things you don't want to lose it's a...
Good ideas and I agree! Also venting the transmission & xfer case are good ideas. I've been thinking about using 1/4 inch OD rigid wall PE or maybe 3/16 inch ID Prothane flexible wall tubing. I'm thinking the more rigid tubing is better. I'm also looking for T's that I can mount to the frame...
Hmmm. I wasn't aware of the WMO (thanks gimpy!). I stands to reason that fuel and partially burnt compounds could condense in that line and end up contaminating the brake system.
When I got my truck I saw it was disconnected and thought it was nuts that going through water\mud or just road...
I added the part numbers to the youtube video (again, and it seems to have stuck this time).
McMaster part numbers I used:
5583K48 Abrasion-Resistant White ETFE Tubing, .278" ID, 3/8" OD, .048" Wall, Semi-Clear White
50915K615 Brass Sleeve for 3/8" Tube OD, Brass Compression Tube Fitting...
Hey guys. I have a contact locally to run samples on a tensile test machine to see if these connecting rod bolts are really an issue. If any of you have extra parts lying around please PM me for my address and send the parts you have to be tested. Please also include any info you have...
Congrats!
I highly recommend bypassing the FDC, pulling all the drums and checking the brakes, bleeding the brakes, etc. I have a couple youtube videos on the FDC bypass, it's quite easy. Enjoy!
My results have been similar to yours. I installed mine pyro pre-turbo and ran it for a while before bypassing the FDC. I found I never got over 5 psi of boost! I also noticed there was a lot of variance in power. Sometimes it would run much better than other times and I noticed the boost...
Ahh, I see. Isn't the front rear axle after bobbing the front axle? Forgive me if understanding some of these posting are a little challenging at times...
Take it slow and don't cause another problem
I'm planning to do a full rebuild of M35A2C front end this spring or early summer that includes all brake parts, seals, cleanup, re-grease, etc. I'm considering that Grizzly locker in addition to AVM hubs. I think the locker is lost effective up...
What are you waiting for? I have a couple youtube videos that walk through it. You definitely should do it before goofing with the fuel adjustments. It doesn't take long and actually reduces risk due to eliminating fuel paths into the oil that can lead to disaster. What I learned by doing it...
Tensile test
Wow! At hit! I recall a thread where a guy showed a pic of the hole in his block, but he never provided more info. I'll have to find the thread and re-read my own thoughts. I'm curious about the torque required to remove the nuts, friction\quality of the threads, stretch...
I've seen lots of speculation about the rod bolts here, but never any data. I tried in vain on one of those threads to get someone to properly document a failure, provide samples for a blown engine, take measurements on the non-broken rods of the blown engine, etc. I'd like to see one or more...
FDC Bypass
I have a couple FDC Bypass videos on YouTube. If you look for them you will find them. My screen name is brianp454. Bypassing the FDC is highly recommended and doesn't take much effort.
I also have a new D turbo if you're interested.
Good luck with your truck!
