    Injector line woes...

All those little grooved block retainers and coils on the injection lines are there for a reason--they keep things from vibrating in resonance with the running engine and thereby failing due to metal fatigue. dg

    M211 axles VS M135 axles.

Yep, the G749 trucks do not "hub flip" for single/dual configurations. Only those trucks built with the Timken/Rockwell axles, such as the G742 and G744. dg

    trailer lights

An easy way to use your existing electric brakes is to accurately measure the DC resistance of the system on the trailer, and add just that amount again in series (This is usually the blue wire in a commercial harness) by using a resistor with a 200-Watt rating. You will then be able to use...

For you guys with HIAB cranes & wreckers & trailers.

    Airpack Teardown

I have seen the air-pak pick up a little fluid in the air side on lots of trucks over the years. They thoughtfully added a drain plug for us. Let the system get about 20 PSI, shut it down and pull the plug. Any liquid will get out in a hurry. I wouldn't worrk about a rebuild, and when one...

    Bridge Plate/Weight Classification

All you need is a bigass scale and whatever load you carry. dg

    M543 help

You guys crack me up. "European signals". LOL. The single red/amber front light on recovery vehicles is just to warn dummies in front of you you are carrying a load and don't even think of pulling out in front of me. It will have a separate flasher in the circuit, and a switch just like that...

    Bridge Plate/Weight Classification

The yellow or green badge is just rounded up to the nearest ton. In your case, I'd say 04 or 05 depending on where it scales. My 5-ton wrecker is a class-18. M37's are class 04. dg

    Price for a 5 ton

The "paper clips" are for lifting the truck onto a ship. They were added to allow the spread of the slings to widen and prevent accidents like inverted trucks. dg

    Is this RT-524A demilled?

The sincgars base will work fine, better in fact since it is a wideband job and doesn't depend on mechanical selection of tuning elements. BTW, those go for serious coin nowdays. dg

How come the engines are so dang loud?

Having the exhaust dump out in front of the passenger door contributes to more noise levels in the cab as well. dg

    Cargo bed

Keep in mind the 16 footer is for the LWB duece, the 20 footer is for the 5-tons. At least that way you don't have to "make" it fit. dg

    Black out lights

The blackout lighting system is done in two parts, the driving light is hooded and shines in a predetermined pattern with just enough (yeah, right) light to make your way. The blackout markers are made up such that the human eye will resolve the "cat-eyes" to look like triangles if you are at a...

    Beadlock O-Rings and Valve Stems

If you are not running the CTIES system, I'd cut the wheels and run tubes. I saw a 3/4" wide slot from the stem hole up to the hole in the ring that the stem used to go thru. Add a radial tube & flap, call it done. I have never been able to keep a full set of 6 inflated more than a day...

    Is this RT-524A demilled?

Looks complete to me. The module connected to the mc knob may have been removed and the gears are not meshed correctly, causing the indexing to be bad. Follow the knob shaft thru, and pull the module and see if it is out of time. It is pretty obvious how it should be. dg

    Used motor oil

BTW, algae will turn things bad in a hurry, there is no "little bit" of it there. You can easily tell, it will be a mass of black gunk in the lower portions of the tank. Dark but transparent color is not an indication of it. I'd blow it thru a filter and go. dg

    Used motor oil

Mine (engine oil) goes from the pan to the tank directly via transfer pump. I get about 7.5 gallons of "free" fuel whenever I change oil in one of the Macks. The engines don't know the difference. There is one old boy here that runs straight ATF in his Dodge. Has a deal with a trans shop for...

Front and rear units are the same and interchangeable. dg

    What oil to use?

Engine oils carry multiple ratings, both "S" and "C". So if you look at the jug, you will see it certified for both gas and Deisel service. ddg
