GL-1 straight 90W, or any newer high-pressure rated GL-5 IF IT plainly states "safe" or "compatible" with yellow metals/braes. Use this for your trans and transfer as they have brass synchros and can be damaged by moderln lubes not designed for that service.
Use any old 90W in the axles if you...
I use what is shown in the 'Nam log you linked all the time with my M54A1 and a short semitrailer. Have good brake hookups and lights and you will have no problems. Reversing is very tricky, however.
The law only cares about length, and you won't be over that of a commercial tractor with a...
I'm with Ken here.
The engineering for the overrunning clutch is sound and robust. Repeated failures are only the result of incorrect adjustment, not use. Most I see are incorrectly set up from loose motor mounts or repowers.

What I have found with additives like Moly-Mate or Lucas is they do what they say, things seem quieter and smoother.
They also increase the cling of the oil to the point where it comes out right past any seal in it's way on old trucks like this. Slingers internal to the box just don't sling...
The early trucks were designed mostly in conjunction with International Harvester. They built lots within the first years ('50- on), as well as Mack and Diamond T. Later came Kaiser Jeep and AM general. All the gassers had the excellent Continental R-6602. A massive 602 CI six and a 5-speed...
Yep, the fuel pump is on top just to the left of the carb under a little sheet metal. They go west with the new gas easily. Saturn has them NOS cheap.

A M135 is a 1950's GMC duece (gasser 302 & 8-speed Hydramatic) with singles all around factory. Has a narrower bed so it looks and rides OK with them.
The same wheels were also used on the M34 Reo duece (alongf ith the narrow bed) and the M104 1.5 ton trailer.
BTW, all duece wheels for the...
The easiest thing to do is just buy another GI air gage like is in your truck anyway. Put it in the oil hole, run a line to the spot on the engine normally taken by the sender unit.
Looks right, works all the time, reads to 120 PSI. Textile braid hose (i.e. Aeroquip) will handle the pressure...
900-series transfer is majorly different in mounting and hookup. It uses a different series drive shaft on 2 of the 3 flanges as well. Overall it is not much larger than that on a duece.
The nice thing is the one on my bench is a three speed with UD, straight, and OD. The bad thing it was...
No mark I know of, but the stocks ones are washable until perforated. Use a bucket, soapy water, and up & down agitation. Rinse with a hose on low pressure, no squirting at it. Shake as much water out as you can, don' blow it with an air hose. Let it dry in the sun or a warm room. Then...
I couldn't have said it better myself. They only made them that for two years, most were built by Kaiser-Jeep in '66-'67. If you pull that engine, you are really downgrading the truck.
dg with two Mack-powered 5-tons.
Free advice is only worth what you pay for it, but the following is based on experience.
I've painted a lot of trucks with a lot of different paints. I have used Gillespie exclusively for over 25 years. As a testimonial, and you cannot find a more demanding environment that the sun out here...
