I would definately recommend.
Mine did something like that a coulple weeks ago, It was a loud buzzing, that got faster and higher pitch for about 4-5 seconds, and i shut the truck of. I then waited about a minute, long enough to looks for smoke, or melted wiring, and it started and everything is fine.

I had similar problems for awhile, Check and clean some of these alt wire connections. The voltage regulator plug/clip/connector/thingy on both of my alts where very dirty. Cleaning these helped me out.
Some dude in Belgium bought some CUCV parts from me off Epay yesterday. I thought I had to pinky swear to GL that I wouldnt sell it to a non-U.S. citizen. Appearently sombody did.
The vent window has to come out. Make sure you shop-vac out inside the bottom of the door before you re-install. Unless you like to leave clues around town of where youve been. Its like a trail of bread crumbs, but glass.
