Thought I'd post the final outcome of the intermittant electricl failure I was having. Maybe this will help someone else.
Turned out it wasn't the control box causing the issue.
After not finding anything wrong with the control box, I started a serious recheck of all grounding points. I...
I think you're right Ted, the ring set-up would be too heavy for the spacers I made. I'll post the pics anyway since they seem to work fine for light poles. I think the legs need to be supported the full contact surface of the cab to maintain stability. They would need to be off-set from the cab...
Nice job Chuck! Glad to see you finally got her put on. And a hoist is the only way to go for a winch install![thumbzup]
Even if you only ever use the winch once, it will still be worth the effort of putting one in.
Something is not right with their catalog. You need a leaf spring kit. Front springs, rear blocks (or springs), shocks, u-bolts. I think that's about it. Guessing around $300.
I've used a Superlift kit on an M1009 before, 2.5" lift, front springs, and rear blocks to retain the heavier stock spring rates. Once you start getting into the 4" kits, more mods are required. The short wheelbase doesn't help. Have your driveshaft rebalanced even with a 2" kit.
I would use...
Thanks for the info. I will keep researching. Here is a pic I found with the alcohol tied into the cummins compressor at the same plugged orifice as in my first picture, which is upstream of the compressor. The other pic is a multifuel compressor also with the alcohol at the comp. intake.
What TM are you reading from?
M1008's have the vinyl troop/cargo cover option. M1009's have an insulated 'blanket' available for the top that's part of the cold weather arctic kit.
Personally, I like the soft tops. I like the look of them over a hard top. The newer vinyl style with the rubber bungees seal to the cab as well as the hard tops and many are insulated. I don't notice any difference between the 2 in cold weather (not that that would be a concern being in FL)...
I am adding alcohol to the air system on an 800 series cummins.
The compressor is different than a multifuel engine and I want to make sure I plumb it to the right spot. (See photo with arrow). Would this be where the line from the alc. bottle will attach? Thanks
That really SUKS! I feel your pain. I also know the compressor you are talking about. There was a little rust on the tank, but it was not damaged. I would have went ballistic first, then told him he just bought himself a compressor. I hope your claim works out in your favor.
Give Goerge at White Owl a call. He will have exactly what you need, and tell you how to bolt the pto in. They only install the thick gasket and have never had an issue. They have built MANY trans w/ pto's.
Carry an inline solenoid pump as a back-up pump incase the mechanical goes out. Otherwise replace the mechanical and be done with it. They have an anti-siphon feature in them that keeps the fuel from draining back to the tank. You can also run the fuel out, refuel, and the mechanical pump will...
