How do you know if there is air leakage?
My experience: possible that air gets in but fuel doesn't drip out, making it impossible to source a leak. I bought clear fuel line and quickly IDed where the leak was comming from.
Check your water in fuel sensor in your fuel filter assembly. I...
I used a solid-state pump from an aircraft supply site. I figure the lack of metal contacts or brushes is just one less thing to worry about for the price difference. It makes a slight clicking sound when full of fuel and a louder one when dry so when I'm watching the wait light I can hear if...
That's a killer deal if its $500. It's got to be worth almost $1000 as scrap metal alone. Probably more if you just part it out.
A year ago when I bought mine, I started trolling the local pick-n-pull and there were at least a dozen similar year GM trucks as donors. Now, however, I'm having...
That is no BS. I got mine knocked up right after I bought my flux-core and then again when I started playing with it again while repairing my '09.
Must be that awesome tan you get when using the no helmet/eyes-closed method when in tight quarters.
I thought GM put the rust there in the factory?!
FWIW, it may be an expensive and time consuming PITA to make it original but its not hard to make good enough for a $2500 truck. $50 for two new rockers from LMC truck and some sheet steel from lowes. Add sawzall (or even a dremel tool) and...
Plus, depending on the type of solar panel charger you have, the open-circuit voltage could be much higher than 12-14V on a sunny day. I have one in my car, oringally used by VW to keep the alarms from running down the battery on the boat ride from europe, that measures something like 30V at...
Gotcha. Does it consistently re-shutdown every 1/4 mile or so? Only reason I mention it is because I had a similar problem at one point. I went over nearly every single piece of fuel line to find a leak and it was (of course) the one point that was hardest to reach that I didn't check the...
How warm has the weather been? Maybe it gets warm enough to start without the GPs.
What voltage on the IP are you talking about? Both should be 12v either way but there's the fast idle solenoid and the cut-off one. Green and pink wires respectively. You should see 12V at the pink wire...
While trying to diagnose a Gen 1 light flickering I ran into this:
With the engine running, I pulled the red/brown pigtail on driver side alt. gen 2 light came on.
With engine running, pigtail back on gen 1, I pulled pigtail on gen 2 and neither light comes on.
Does any of that make...
One more question since I seem to have been bitten by this turbo bug: Do the exhaust manifolds swap sides or bolt up inverted? That is, can I take my stock passenger manifold and put it on the drivers side? The bolt patterns look the same.
Why you ask? I don't like how the crossovers in...
I'm not going to even think about spending more than two or three hundred bucks total. If I see a 6.5 setup in a junk yard, I'll grab it. A local place quoted me $75 for the turbo and left header but I never went back to try to remove it, not in this heat wave.
One more generic 6.2 question...
Thanks for the link, I'll use that as a backup for sure. However, TM9 seems to be a lot like ordinary car paint. I was talking about mil-spec latest/greatest type-II CARC. The kind that sands off the sole of your shoes when you drag feet across it, doesn't burn off until the steel underneath...
Harbor freight has a cheap flux-core welder on sale for $90 every once in a while. If you're doing a lot of panels or pieces, that may be cheaper than structural epoxy. LMC truck has cheap rockers and body support pieces. The rest of the rust in mine was the cab floor and I just used steel...
I talked to a shop in Indianapolis that can get PPG CARC paint. However, they said theres a minimum order of a case (4 gallons). A 4 gallon case with the appropriate amount of catalyist works out to $800.
I want to buy a gallon only. Anyone around these parts want to go in on a case with me?
LOL, so then I shouldn't worry about sourcing olive-drab colored neon lights and a bolt-on wing for a K5 blazer? Rats. I hoped wreckerman would think I'm cool :-)
Let's just say quality comes from viewers requirements. For cost, simplicity and effeciency this CUCV is the greatest thing I've...
First, sorry if this is explained elsewhere, I haven't been able to find it with search.
Anyway, plenty of info on HOW to put a turbo on the 6.2 but I haven't seen much about the improvement. Any more power, any better MPGs?
I don't like how the extra tubing clutters up the engine compartment...
Long shot but does anyone happen to have the dimensions or a drawing of the tailgate window?
Mine broke out last night in a weird one in a million chance while loading lumber at lowes. I was planning to remove it and trace it's shape onto butcher paper for future reference this summer but lady...
I think I have a line on a SM465/NP208 combo with bellhousing from a chevy 350 from a local ad. Price is right for the combo so I'm curious what else I'll need. I have zero experience with drive system work that involves cranes/hoists or lifts.
So, I think I need a clutch pedal, clutch...
