    Deuce tire/rim break down.

The local County employees here have an eye-bolt sunk in the concrete in their tire shop, they put a chain through the center of the rim and around the tire to catch the lock-ring if it pops off while changing our deuce tires.... A local tire shop has a "cage" they put the tire in while...

    boy, am I in trouble

In 2004 our 1967 M35A2 grass fire truck ( since retired ) ran into a ford ranger that got in the way. The driver was a Korea War vet who drove deuces in truck convoy's while he was over there. He was a volunteer firefighter with our department since the 1950's. Sadly he passed away in 2005...

    Kaiser vs AM General

We currently have two 1968 AM General M35A2's. We used to have a 1967 Kaiser Jeep M35A2. The only difference I really noticed between the Kaiser and AM General were the different Emergency brake handle set-ups..... So when did Kaiser really stop making the deuce? Was it 1967? If it was later...

    South Texas Firefighting deuces

We had two different local shops do the steel work, hence the different paint jobs. We designed the WO/W deuce as a "heavy" brush truck ( the one with the walk-on front bumper ) and the W/W as a "light" brush truck. The W/W has worked out great pulling other fire department's deuces, 5-tons...

    just replaced my torque rods

That's what we did when we replaced all of our torque rod ends. We jacked up that side of the truck a little bit, found a thin wall socket at NAPA that fit. Didn't need to remove the spring packs. I should have taken pics.......

Put A muffler on a Deuce

Both of our M35A2's have mufflers, but we had the exhaust re-routed under the truck M35A1 style. It's made a big difference in noise, we can now hear the radios and such. Don't get me wrong, its still loud, but a quieter than it was. :-D One of our trucks was a non-turbo originally so we just...

U6TL: Battery or Anti-personnel weapon? You decide...

We purchased a brand new set of interstate military U6TL's for one of our deuces that lasted less than a year. We have since gone to the optima gell cells with the U6TL adapters in both of our deuces, they work great, no problems so far. The adapter keeps the smaller batteries from moving...

    Has anyone actually driven a M35 20+hours?

Last March 11 we drove both of our deuces off-road from 11AM to 7AM the next day at a 3,000 acre grass/heavy brush fire, stopping only to check the oil and radiator, fuel, water for the water tank, and four tire changes. Question, does anyone else use the pull-out "throttle" on the dashboard as...
