You would mess up your paint (and your truck looks clean from the pic), but you could sand down the tailgate to see if any unit markings are there under the layers. I have also seen unit markings on the hood. I bet they are there. It all depends upon how far you want to go to figure out where...
I suggest taking a look at David Doyle's book, which I believe is called Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles (or something close to that). I believe he goes through all of the variants and even list a rarity score.
GUYFANG, as you know, there are four bolts that hold the leg onto the bracket that lowers it. I remove the top two, and loosen the lower two so that the leg can pivot within the mounting bracket. I loosen the lower two first...and then remove the top two. I am VERY careful when I remove the...
(I reviewed the manual and was unable to determine the information I need.)
I have an M105A2 that was overhauled about 15 years ago by VSE. The landing leg on the trailer works, but it does not work correctly. As you are cranking it, you need to pull the handle back towards the trailer body...
Your truck was overhauled on 10/2000. Two different MWOs were applied to the truck. You can GOOGLE the MWO numbers to find out what was done. There is no mileage listed.
I think the information they provide is generally good and forthright, but I still adhere to caveat emptor. With that said, NOTHING beats an in-person inspection. I, too, most often cannot inspect in-person. I think you need to understand that the pictures and description are provided to give...
I, too, have used RAPCO spray cans and it worked great. I once repainted an entire M35A2 and also an M105A2. I ended up having the M35A2 re-CARCed, but the trailer looked great seven years later.
Very impressive work on a beautiful vehicle. I dreamt of trying to buy the M60A1 that came up for sale in TX a few years back, but I came up a couple (hundred) thousand short.
My brother was in the Army from 1982 until the early 2000s. During that time, he was never stationed in Germany, but he did go over there a few times. During one of his trips near Munich in the mid-80s (I saw one pic of the HOFBRAUHAUS), he took a bunch of pictures of M880s, M818s, M35s, and...
I think that mounting point was where the TOW launcher was stored when in transit. As I said, "I think" this is how it worked. I hope someone who served can confirm this.
I used to have an M1045 with that same TOW mounting point, as well as the missile racks (my truck also had the TOW wiring harness hung off a mounting point on the B-pillar). The racks took up the entire bed beneath the rear hatch.
