It is possible to replace the ECM battery but it requires electronics skills. The ECM's are probably an 8 or 9 out of 10 difficulty level due to the way they are manufactured. Just getting them apart requires de-soldering about 45 MOSFETS and VR's that are glued to the case with heat transfer...
The SWICE kits are very hard to find. For most purposes the DPA (3/4/5) is a less expensive and significantly more available option for computer communications and is going to do everything but the hands on diagnostics that require a DVOM, or other test instruments. The SWICE kits is extremely...
Yeah hopefully the damage was from a forklift not an actual impact. That's a LOT of force required to move the axle like that relative to the springs / frame.
I can't even envision, mechanically, how that shock came to look like it does.

Also - looking closer at ALL the pictures - that whole rear axle is completely fornicated from that driveshaft being bent - the whole thing is...
There's no straightening - that's almost certain to result in failure and possible damage.... a driveshaft failure on these trucks can result in damage to so many major components and collateral damage that the truck is not economically viable to repair.
You MUST have all new driveshafts...
My 2008 A1R M1079 has the 25,980 GVRW.
Probably need a data plate for an M1079 chassis or maybe the A1R M1078 is also 25,980.
The A1P2's are even heavier with the same axles. I keep forgetting to look at their GVRW.
Simple answer. Don't buy an A0 truck anyway so PASS.
As for what's wrong with *THAT* A0 truck - could be a cooler or could be water intrusion around the filler plug, etc. Water destroys the clutch material so that truck may need a new or rebuilt transmission and that's not likely to be less...
It sounds like an M1084 MTV or an M985 HEMTT cargo w/crane would be an easier choice. The 985 is a BEAST of a machine though and maybe you don't want the 120' turning radius. It does have the weight and the mass and the cargo capacity to take big hunks of tree without requiring another cargo...
The LMTV has pretty soft rear springs. You'll definitely want stabilizers if you are picking heavy objects. Even trailers with heavy tongue weights will sag the 1078 suspension and the 1079 you can rock the whole truck just by shifting your weight in the van. The MTV (1087 for example) is like...
The mechanical switch is undoubtedly more common, more reliable, cheaper, and less complex. But you actually don't need to use a military switch at all and really that just complicates the truck for your fire department vs. installing an old-school pull-style headlight switch like is seen on old...
The FMTV always used the push-button. That is due to it's unique (in the military) 12v lighting system. Nothing else used them.
However, all the other military vehicles use the same mounting format and same wiring (but 24v) but with a lever-operated purely mechanical switch. So you can get one...
Yes. But the push-button switches aren't supposed to be used on the HMMWV. They are for the FMTV, which has a 12v lighting system. The HMMWV lighting system is 24v - which likely has something to do with HMMWV's having them catch on fire AND it could be that they aren't being grounded properly...
Oh awesome. MME has been involved. 😬 Well that's one more cook in the kitchen. Hate it when that happens.
Watch for random foolishness. Those jokers and their tire-shine......
CTIS is easy to fix. Another sign that it wasn't in the right hands. Anyone that disables the CTIS on these trucks is immediately suspect to me. Usually a sign they won't ultimately stick with it.
Ha! Well sounds like a good score for you. The can be pretty quiet with the right insulation. They definitely aren't for everyone and if he thought anything from Stellantis was a smart purchase then I suspect the LMTV wouldn't have been for him. They aren't for everyone - these are really best...
