Yes. Or you could upgrade to a newer dryer. That model is deprecated and if it needs service it's probably worth upgrading instead. My advice about the screwdriver applies to the newer model not that antique. I'm sure you can clean the purge valve and get it working at least temporarily
Compressor probably lost its exhaust valves. Bits of the valve springs can end up inside the dryer. The compressor can't unload to zero psi. It has to have wet tank pressure to operate the unloader pistons. If you have ~20 psi of air it might be able to unload if the regulator failed in the...
Not sure on that but I doubt it. There's WAY more part numbers for various wheel valve types than you probably are aware of. The CTIS system went through decades of design and development and many different variations. Many of the alloy wheels have the wheel valve literally built directly into...
You don't need anything to remove the wheel valve except an allen socket for the valve, a crescent wrench for the banjo and a Shrader tool. You simply remove the entire valve and hose assembly and install the shrader directly into the valve stem. You can leave the lug nut open to the elements...
You should rebuild the wheel valves - DO NOT buy the Chinese one's from Midwest Military. Only buy genuine Dana/Spicer/Eaton parts.
Then you should rebuild the PCU under the driver's side dash. Those two items - wheel valves and PCU - will cover 90% of the problems people encounter with the...
No experience. The HMMWV's we installed hydraulic winches on in the military were supplied by Milemarker.
Superwinch has been good in the past as well.
I've heard good things about Comeup .
Keep hearing bad things about Sherpa. 🤷♂️
Sherpa gets a lot of bad reviews for their quality and support. I know several people that will not touch them anymore.
Warn is quite good. Actually headquartered across town from me. They make a very good product and have excellent product support.
I have seen multiple 5 solid light failures that were completely unrecoverable. So has @Lostchain who put together a full bench test station for the CTIS controllers using a new old stock FMTV harness. It is absolutely a thing. Not even changing the chassis wiring to use a different program will...
Don't do that without careful research and understanding of the wiring differences. The YouTuber you saw may have just got lucky because most of the older truck CTIS controllers like the 900 series have undocumented voltages on CANBUS pins and they often cause the J1939 resistors to literally...
I purchased this one - have used it on like four trucks without issue:
https://www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-24538-Heavy-U-Joint-Puller/dp/B0787C31T1
Once the yokes are cleaned up the new u-joint cups will slide in by hand. If they don't you have to stop and find out why and correct it. They should...
To the power supply comment - very useful to wire in the optional CTIS OFF toggle switch that the harness and annunciator panel are already setup for. This way you can easily reset the controller or just fool it into holding some random pressure. Tell it to inflate to the moon and just toggle it...
The Shrader core itself is the same as any other tire on a passenger car and fits both locations. You can remove the one from the wheel valve and install it into the valve stem. The valve stem has a slightly different connection but *most* adapters will work you just have to hold them as the...
The 24v heater is an option for the PURest dryer. They make multiple part numbers and take note that some have mirrored castings so do not have the ports where you want them. Haldex does sell the 24v heating element as a service part so if all you can source is a 12v unit you can use the old...
I don't like the idea of back-pressuring the 1800 CFM compressor that already likes to eat exhaust valve springs due to high discharge temps with a stock dryer. Asking for problems IMO. You want as little restriction as possible to lower compressor temps. The truck's consumption may be low...
If both front tires, but ONLY the front tires, are losing air down to 45 psi then the problem is likely one of the two wheel valves on the front wheels.
You can disconnect the wheel valve banjo bolt and zip tie a vinyl glove over the hose and see if it fills up the glove. That would indicate a...
Hard to find detailed specs on the WABCO SS1200 but the usual naming convention in commercial vehicle air systems is to name stuff or prominently indicate somehow in the part number the CFM (Cubic feet per minute) of the component. I assume the 1200 means 1200 CFM. The Compressor on our trucks...
If you aren't in any danger of freezing, then yes I would unplug it. It may have already tripped a circuit breaker as a 12v heater would pull double the wattage on 24v. Probably popped the breaker already I should think since that heater runs anytime the ignition is on.
I would want a larger one myself just so the cartridge doesn't need changed so often. That's the smallest size they make......
You should likely rebuild the compressor cylinder head. There's a whole thread on that.
I do not see a 24v version of that Wabco SS1200 so I hope he didn't splice the...
