Air ride has to be supplied from the pressure protection valve off the wet tank so a leak will not endanger the brake air pressure. That is how the system is designed so if you re-route the lines to the air-bridge just make sure it originates from the PPV.
Here's some pics I found from the 3126B pump I managed to "take apart"
It is also a swash-plate piston design. Just REALLY puny and sad looking.
Negative. That is the C7 style pump (probably used on the E variant). The B pump looks nothing like that. It's much smaller (probably half that size) and the piston cylinder block is yellow metal. That thing looks like a beast compared to the 3126B pump - which looks like a childs toy inside.
Is that for like an Ambo or something? The up-armored HMMWV uses a dual evaporator system but is engine driven. At least for two and four man versions.
If you have a NIIN I can possibly determine what it was intended for.
How old is it and what is it's BTU rating and amperage draw? Likely will...
The cylinder is bolt on. The reinforcement kit uses self tapping sheet metal screws and it's all done from underneath.
Except - in my case the cab sheet metal was already starting to wrinkle and deflect and I had to use a porta-power and some massaging from above - drilled a hole in the floor...
Guessing it's due to more accurately regulated pressure as requested by the ECM. Accuracy and response time.
The HEUI pump (very conveniently) has NO timing! You just plop the pump in there and crank her up. 🤷♂️
That is what has happened with every one I've encountered. It's immediate and dramatic. Change pump - problem gone. Search me as to why?!?
We need to catch us a CAT engineer and ply him with alcohol and my custom brownies...... he'll talk.
I will add that I did this in the fall and it's GREAT. The ride quality increase is VERY significant. I can cross RR tracks at speed without throwing stuff off my dash. Speed bumps don't make me pucker anymore. And my original 2008 shocks after removing the coil springs work great and aren't...
Wiring connectors look ok. Probably should check wiring integrity while you have it open. Send a couple amps down the wires (disco both ends - use a headlamp bulb and 12v) and then shake the harness around a bunch and make sure it's solid.
The "seal" between the crankcase and cylinders on that compressor is just paper. But a smear of RTV will work just as well for that. You might get away with pulling that bolt out and putting a little sealant on it. Hard to tell if the oil is emanating from the gasket between the castings or from...
I tend to trust the engineers that built the thing more than some guy buying filter housings and marking them up because HE thinks it's a good idea. I don't think it's a good idea from a safety standpoint at the very least. The CAT engineers put a filter before the HEUI pump on the C7 and they...
Oh that's a "projection" based on usage statistics and that's what the military would *like* to see but it never happens. I've never seen an FMTV exit service with more than 20k.
With ECO hubs and proper maintenance, including replacing a LOT of stuff that just wears out because they are BIG...
These aren't like that. The tread will be gone after 25-30k.
Chassis life is 35k. The military ends up throwing away LOTS of tires with EPIC amounts of tread because the rubber spoils. 10 years is a hard stop and the military policy is not to mount any tire more than 7 years old from date of...
It is *almost* academic with no parts availability on the 3126 HEUI pump (C7 pumps you can find tools and rebuild kits from China, etc - not so the 3126) - can't get parts AND cat wants the old pump REAL BAD or you lose your core so taking it apart isn't happening either.
And who is gonna...
I don't believe they do spit. But no one seems to be be on the page I'm on so.... FWIW.
Not one person I'm aware of has actually done a before/after of *just* beads and reported the results - not because no one has done that - because a bunch of people have done that and it basically does...
Yup. Exactly the same situation I've seen. The 3126 trucks just keep dong this. I'm sure you're going to turn in that pump for a core (don't blame ya) but I REALLY want to know what the hell is going wrong with them. The lack of understanding is killing me.
