Got the shaft on and some Corn Head grease on order. I filled the winch with GL1 just to test it and oddly it's holding pretty well. The side with the missing seal spring is dripping, but it's not pouring out. Tested it in all speeds and it works as it should. As soon as my son and a friend...
So I have the PTO installed and working as it should (thanks to the advice from Phil). I have the brand new shaft ready to install so I can FINALLY try this thing out, but.....
When I installed the winch a couple years ago I tried to service the winch with fresh gear oil. All the plugs...
Yeah, probably not, but I would like to REALLY know what the cut/split is. I wonder how much of the BS is GL driven and how much is GOV driven?
I wonder how someone could get a hold of the agreement/contract? Freedom of information request?
Can the kind senator fix that BS 10% fee too? I don't like paying that. As a matter of fact, I don't like paying at all. Maybe if we stir up enough congressmen they can start handing out surplus like food stamps! Free MVs! Why should I have to PAY?
Actually, why can't GL pay ME to take...
Luckily the Post 9/11 GI Bill changes 01 August to allow the use of trade schools for licenses, certifications, etc. My last day on active duty is 31 July so I am researching truck driving schools right now. I plan to get every license I can so I can drive whatever I want. Instead of studying...
Water bottle? Do you have a home improvement store? Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc ? Get two five gallon buckets with lids. Can't be any easier. You could probably get by with one, but they're cheap. No need to fill it to the very top. A water bottle would suck.
Thanks for posting those pics up. When I think of the Jeep towing the stacked 105s or the guy training towing two 105s it sends shivers down my spine. They were LUCKY.
To make M105 brakes work without air -
Remove all the M105 braking system (Including park brakes)
Remove M105...
So I thought I would share some of my experiences "piecing" together a standard deuce winch set up for my truck. My best advice would be to get a complete set up all at once if at all possible.
I got a great deal on a used winch, with cable, chain, hook and frame extensions. The price was...
Nothing for me to re evaluate - either I have the MONEY and time to roll over 900 miles or I don't. This year I didn't have the time. Next year being newly retired I might not have the money.
How does a hole in the top (which is really the bottom since it's upside down) allow oil past the anti drain back valve (rubber flap) which is near the engine? Assuming you're running anti drain back filters. If not then I see how this would help the filter breath and the oil to drain out.
Depends on the brand of filter and the quality of the filter. With Westfolk's you can run a bunch of different filters and I've had less mess with some than others. The anti drain back is really just a rubber flap, so if it's a higher quality filter, it "should" hold the oil in better.
I...
